I opted to watch this Salman Rushdie "rerun" because this is PBS fundraising season and I couldn't be sure that tonight's show would be aired in its regular time slot. One needs a daily infusion of Charlie Rose food for thought. Thanks for the online opportunity.

What pleasure you give us dear Charlie, these evenings we spend with you and now this fine genius Mr. Salman Rushdie. And how great after just finishing Satanic Verses and now reading Shalimar the Clown, being able to hear his description of what he did. Not so much of "dazzle with language" these days, he says. I'll call him brilliant in every written word. Thanks.

Of all the apppearances which I have seen featuring Mr. Salman Rushdie (including on C-SPAN) tonight's interview on CHARLIE ROSE was not only the most interesting and revealing... It was so concise, as well (less than half an hour).

A quite fascinating artist interviewed by a man who gives us all a very important reason for the continued existence of PBS.
