      Dear Mr. Rose:

First, I commend you and your team for a great website. And as usual, what a great show!

When Mr. Negroponte mentioned that parents waited till their kid(s) was (were) tucked in bed in order to use the computer, I couldn't help but shed a few tears of joy (All right, I'll admit I'm a bit of a soft touch, so be it). In the end, people benefit from technology not only financially but also socially.

Mom (Bless her soul!) was right! Despite the numerous hurdles, in the end, the good always prevail.

Thank you Mr. Rose to you and your team for an entertaining evening.

      Sincerely,

      Paul Plamondon

Well, I think the nationalism or patriotism Nicholas speaks about is not the love of your birth terrain, but the blind conviction that your country is the best and it's ungodly to speak against any rule of it.

This is taught and has disappeared to an almost total extent in Europe, at least Scandinavia.

It is smart but dispicable men and women like Hitler that thrives on it. What I mean is that Nationalism is unintelligient.

Another point I have, sure you can call it a laptop, but it's more properly named a educational device. It will not be able to play the movies in HD or play games. "one laptop per child" is misleading since we would normaly associate "child" and "laptop" with entertainment.

And no, this project have not brought the prices down:P

Disappointing comment that demeans a worthy project purely to make somewhat vacuous statements. "It's in their genes." is about as primitive an assertion that could be retroed. Closely followed by the non-sequitur, "...why do the kids need education at all?"

Prof Negroponte's laptop is great, but his philosophy leaves a lot to be desired. What he regards as nationalism is tribalism, and kids are not taught it. It's in their genes. His idea is the same stupid primitivism that gets us into wars in places like Vietnam and Iraq. If it were true, then why do the kids need education at all? Does some evil genie have them in thrall? But then, Nicholas is the brother of John.
