      The New America!

      Now that America has decided, we can all celebrate The New America.

      The critics of American "Hypocracy" ("Hypocracy" is defined by the Urban Dictionary as

      "What Democracy turns into when all of the politicians in your country are liars.") can now be silenced.

      For centuries, the American Dream was denied to many Americans because our citizens failed to reach out and hold their politicians' feet to the fire with the strong grip of their votes and shake form their pockets the sweet desserts so eloquently stated in paragraph two of our beloved Declaration of Independence -

      "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

      At the time, certain citizens (women, Negroes and others) were excluded. But, over time, we remedied these inequalities by learning to decipher the direction indicated by our moral compass. Now that we are on course to live up to our potential, we must stay the course.

      Just as we broke with our past for good reason to create the first New America in 1776, we must all, as the modern New Americans, now dedicate ourselves to maintain the equality we have reached out and shaken loose from our past - to guard and covet it for our descendants, for those with whom we disagree, for those who are different.

      The first line of our beautiful Declaration of Independence tells us why we must break with

      the Old America -

      "When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them..."

      The moral compass of The New America has brought us to a new "course of human events" that requires we New Americans to assume the new hard-won powers of equality and separate from the Old American past scarred with inequality.

      We must renew our vows to the American Dream that all peoples of the Earth are created equal with the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. With vows in hand, we must then act with a firm grip on our fellow citizens and our politicians with the promise that the American Dream cannot be taken from anyone and that we will guard and defend The Dream for our descendants, for those with whom we disagree, for those who are different.

      And as The New Americans, we must pledge that whosoever would have the audacity to try to take

      The New American Dream from us must pry it from our cold, dead hands...

      Not a bad exchange between Charlie and Al, the two of them are clearly close, and their dialog really reflects that. I imagine this conversation wasn't too far away, from a conversation they would have, if they were just chatting at lunch.

      I find Al Hunt an interesting guest, but he's also a very "safe" guest. What I mean to say is, he pretty much sticks to middle-of-the-road commentary, there's never much "news" in what Al Hunt says, but it does summarize the topic he is asked about well.

      I find Charlie Rose's show shines more when he has a panel (one of appropriate size, sometimes Charlie tries to squeeze too much brain power in his panels). In other words, Al Hunt is far more enjoyable when he gets to "riff" off of comments delivered by Doris, Halperin and others.

      Now let us talk about Hillary. Bernstein says she is "disingenous." well that is a simple one, her POPS was a strict kind of guy who Berstein describes as being a "tyrant." So Hillary learned at a real early age to molify Pops by telling him that, "She was good Republican little girl." Pops patted her on the head and sent her on her way. When Hillary got out of the house she put on her Eugene Mc Carthy button and went down to the protest rally. So to keep Pops off the war path Hillary learned to tell him what he wanted to hear and then as soon as she could, did what she wanted to do.

      Dear Check: I bet ya would love me if I said nice things about the President elect. There is a quality about TABS that people love to hate, even though they promise themselves never to read what he writes again, they just can't help themselves. Now I promise to make a concerted effort to say something nice about him...I'm thinking....

      DEAR MODERATOR: You have been suckered in by me into removing that last post. You had a choich to make, one based on ones ability to see beyond the obvious. The piece was a quotation by the Howard Beale character in the movie "NETWORK" written by Paddy Chayefsky. The point of the piece WAS NOT A COMMENT ON MR ROSE but on the media in general and the illusion of substance that it creates. The proof is that at the end of the post I wrote "Prophetic Words" which indicates a larger issue then Mr Rose. As a matter of fact I was creating a little illusion myself with the use of the quotation by a fictitious character.

      TABS is reporting that one of his posts has been removed. It's about time. This board has been taken over not only by delusional people who don't possess a hint of logic, but also by right-wing anti-Obama people who try to spread conspiracy theories and paranoid myths (not enough interesting people on the O'Reilly Show). I believe that the CR Show would be better off without this board. It reflects badly on the show. I am horrified by the comments related to the election posted here in the last few weeks. After so many years of disregarding/insulting reality the far-right has created a monster.

      We have all been damaged in varying degrees by the "isms" associated with Americanism - individualism, materialism, extremism and relativism. Unfortunately, that damage can make people uncorrectable. If Al Hunt was less damaged he might be advocating, as a journalist, for truth and justice, which in the case of George W. Bush might mean being sent to the Hague for crimes against humanity. Instead he is advocating for the status quo, which for Obama means being "collegial but not confrontational."

      Vacuous subject matter, a show only for the curious mind. It's a time of quietude politically. I think the outlook is promising. The transition to what exactly is the question. I'd say it's a new ball of clay, it is pliable and in good hands. Many great shows to come, thanks to Al and Charlie for keeping the faith.

      Well, the spooky thing about this, esp when viewed in light of the history of the centralization of govt and business in this country, is that ppl of all stripes always believe they are doing the best things for the best reasons. There is never any reason for conspiracy theories when reading history, because the participants always tell you exactly what they wanted, if you listen to them. That is, btw, why you should always read original sources, and not what somebody else says about them. It is always easy to lie about it later. The Progressive founders of the Federal Reserve, both Republican and Democrat, did exactly that, and all the way through the 20's and 30's they avoided the conclusion that what they had been doing was making things worse. They then revised history. The more level-headed 18th c always prescribed a return to first principles. It might, then, make sense to see if the economic body can restore itself, before applying more leeches. (Reminds me of the time my Dad was trying to put a new parking brake cable on his car. Every time he tightened the parking brake, the shoes needed loosening. If he loosened the shoes, the parking brake needed tightening. He cursed mechanical perversity. I told him if it didn't work one way it might make sense to do the opposite, which, of course, worked, because you always adjust the brakes first with no tension on the parking brake cable.) I am, in any case, not at all surprised that Bush feels "compassion" for the new pres, like his father has the man he once called a bozo. I just hope the feeling, in this case, is not reciprocated.

      President Elect Obama will inherit huge problems,

      however the American people are energized by his thoughtfulness, brilliance, humility, vision and his family. He has raised our consciousness and that's a good thing.
