IRAN 10/29/2008 01:36 AM Report
Islamic Republic had pursued its secret nuclear program during Khatami's presidency.
And,the Iranian students' movement was massively repressed during Khatami.Khatami defends capital punishment for homosexuality, and during his complete eight years in office continued Iran's support of the Hezbollah in Lebanon. While Iranian Nation is struggling to make ends meet and dying under ECONOMICS SANCTIONS, MULLAH Khatami pusues his Fancy stuffs of bridge of Civilizations!! which apparently has buyers among Europeans who sell even their mothers for Petro-dollars!

Charlie Rose is a good guy. He is a polite, courteous and civil person. He is that way to everyone. And perhaps he is right for being so.
But I have the sense when speaking to the serial liar and representative of the leading terrorist state on earth he perhaps should have been a bit tougher. He should not have taken 'lies' for answers. He should have been a bit more savvy and prepared. When the Iranian Foreign Minister spoke about thirty years of Iranian cooperation with the IAEA he should have laughed out loud. Iran hid for over twenty years its nuclear program and was only caught at it when an Iranian dissident group in 2003 outed their nuclear work.
Charlie Rose should also not have put up with that terrible translator in that freaky English of his. The slow- pace and generalities were infuriating.
Charlie Rose did ask about the nuclear program and did indicate that there is no possible peaceful reason for it. But he did not speak about those criminal actions of Iran which have led to the deaths of American soldiers in Iraq. He did not speak about the terror- bombings in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia in which Iranian surrogates killed Americans.
I suggest next time Charlie Rose interviews an Iranian he reads something about the internal situation in Iran, the repression of dissent, the repression of minorities that constitute nearly fifty percent of the population, the murders of young people by the regime, the whole fanatical xenophobic Islamist ideology.
Playing softball with these creeps makes Charlie Rose look like a patsy. If he needs to keep giving them airtime at least he should have the journalistic integrity to confront them with the horrendous realities of their totalitarian regime.

I am wondering if Mr. Rose is aspiring to become a freelance go-between with "peacemaking" agenda with regards to the Islamist regime in Tehran, when time and again he has had the opportunity to try to extract some truth about the nature of the Iranian regime while interviewing its top-level operatives. It is jarring to see individuals such as Ahmadinejad and Mottaki use his highly regarded program to project a Gandhi-like image of themselves while in truth they are very much closer to the Taliban. I am dumbfounded as to how anyone with the immense credibility of Mr. Rose can defer to the operatives of a medeival theocratic regime that on its birth has massacred countless Iranian intelligentsia and every voice of opposition and has survived on terrorizing its own citizens. Today, Iran is a country where on a morning drive to work one may see men and women hanged from cranes on charges of moral or political "subversion". How can anyone dignify the operatives of such a regime that knows itself to be guilty of the most heinous crimes against humanity with a "constructive dialog"?! When it comes to our history of conflict with Islamist radicals, next to 9/11, what is most fresh in American minds is the hostage crisis and the IRI's incessant and perpetual Islamist "Death to America" sloganeering. These are some of the basic facts underlying the Islamist Regime's race to acquire nuclear weapons in order to wield the kind of power that guarantees they will never be brought to justice. It would be just if Mr Rose at least tried to be as prying as Mike Wallas once was with the deposed Shah of Iran.

I read the comments here with deep sorrow. It's so obvious how effective the zionist anti-Iran campaign thru mass media has been. Try to drill the following facts into your washed brains: - Iran does not want to wipe Israel off the map. - Iran does not want The Bomb. - Neither Israel nor the US will attack Iran. - Iran's help is the main reason for calm in Iraq & no Iranian "equipment" has been shown to have killed anybody in Iraq. - Iran doesn't lecture anybody and is only responding to verbal attacks from US & Israel. -Iranians are not crazy about their current leadership and if left alone and not attacked constantly from the west, they can and will change their leadership. By the way Mr Mottaki can speak English fluently unlike many other foreign ministers such as the French and the German ministers. I pray for more understanding, real dialogue and peace. PS: Don't let the Zionist tail wag the US dog.

Lets be realistic if Iran wants to have the nukes they will have the nukes and who are we or anyone else to tell any country that they are or are not allowed to have a knowledge to make a bomb especially to a country like Iran who is surrounded by countries that already have nukes: India, Pakistan, Russia,Israel (who is yet to sign the NTP treaty), and eventually Iraq in the near future. Therefore to sit here and discuss wether we should or shouldn't allow a nation to have such a knowledge is not only hipocritical but also ediotic and pointless. Only Iranians can change this regime and only they can take the power away from these fanatic clergymen. Unfortunately, the wrong approach the US, UK and their allies have taken toward middle east in the past six-seven decades has paved the way for such dictatorship regimes to take countries like Iran hostage, and it has caused them to lose all their crediblities with even the moderate Iranians and until that changes the people in Iran will rather deal with these fanatics dictators than to trust those governmets who helped them get to power, even if unintentionally. Iran will become a secular and prosperous country again I just hope it happens in my lifetime.

Charlie,
I have noticed that when you ask a question from Iranian President or in this case Foreign Minster you seem to argue that Iran should ignore the history, turn the page, and start a new dialog.
That sounds fine, it is time to move forward. But why is it that you don't ask the same question when you are interviewing US officials. Say for example, when US administration says Iran can't even have nuclear energy program, as it can't be trusted.
When a US official says Iran can't be trusted what do they base it on? History? Shouldn't you then pose the same question (as to turning the page, starting over) to them?

Mr. Motaki, please tell your clergies, big and small, tall and short: You do not own Iran. Iran/Persia has a history of thousands of years, YOUR own brand of Islam is about 30 years old, and, the Islam itself is about 1388. You can not impose your own religion on people; People need to accept religion from their very own bottom of hearts. How many more years the Nation of Iran has to suffer from Mr. Ahmadinejad and the Regime's
self-absorbed ideas and slogans? Forty years ago, a slap on their faces and a few days in Evin could easily relieve the Nation of Iran from these prolonged miseries. P.S. It is said by the latest Family Law passed by Larijani ,the head of current Majles, two women are less valued than a testicle of a man in Islamic Republic.

Dear Mr Mottaki: There is a God. He is greater than the Old Testament of the Jews, The New Testament of the Christians or the Koran of Islam. He speaks to all men through their hearts and intellects, with the knowledge of mans capacity to love. He is the God of all men...... God gives man the AUTHORITY to govern himself much as God gives man the authority to have and use electric power. American government is a secular Republic in which Americans have separated church from state. As such Americans have a propensity to forget to bring God along to the table when we speak with Persia. Americans only wish to speak of the affairs of men, the practical. This has not been a very successful approach in dealing with Persia for the last 30 years. America must remember to speak about its belief in God as well.

Is Ahmadinijad telling the truth when he insists that Iran had no plans to carry out a genocidal against the Jewish people? Is Ahmadinidad telling the truth when he suggest the Jews enjoy equal citizenship and representation rights in Iran as the rest of the population? How valid is Ahmadinijad’s comparison of the disintegration of the Soviet Union to the eventual demise of Israel as world power vis a vis the wellbeing and rights of the Palestinians? Does the Iranian people honestly care for the rights of the Palestinians, as Ahmadinijad claims, or is it simply that the Iranian regime uses the plight of the Palestinian People as a tool in its foreign policy for ulterior motives? Why does Iran provide help only to the Islamic parties and not to the population in general? Why should anyone trust Iran anyway?

Astounding!
A country that regularly states the U.S., "Should stop lecturing," while they incessantly, ceaselessly, perpetually, constantly, interminably—lecture.
One has to wonder if these people know that the world is laughing at them.
I have no doubt that the current Iranian regime will get the bomb and use it.
We can all die laughing.

One must admire, Charlie, your patience to endure unendurable lectures of what the USA should do. Your guest's main plea, as I see it, was for negotiations - although years of negotiations lead to nowhere. Such pleas only confirms our suspicion that Iran is playing for time.
For the sake of future ?conversations, such REAL subjects like {a\ The UN agency's discovery of a completely different line of nuclear research Iran concealed for years; [b\ Open threats against Israel's very existence and [c\ Iranian equipment used to kill our heros in Iraq; [d\ the most recent Security Council sanctions - were sidestepped. I'm tired to watch shadow-boxing.
