MotherLodeBeth is where Rock probably got his idea to say "Yes" always and immediately.

Interesting comparison he makes to DJing, as comedians carry along their own 'crate' to every gig, sequencing their jokes, managing the rhythm, feeling out the tempo etc.

His late night appearance did seem over-indulgent towards his comedic brand of cynicism (more cheap shots than jokes, unlike the gems that reflect some point of legit constructive crticism), doesn't do justice to his skills as an observer.

Chris and Charlie noted the show was taped last Monday. I like Chris Rock in many ways, but am disappointed when he and others denounce people like Governor Palin because she/we hunt. Fact is someone has killed the meat he and others eat, if he is indeed a meat eater. But his take on OBL is right on, and something I as a Libertarian have been PO'd about since 2002. But lets face it neither party has spoken out very much until recently about catching the man whom we supposedly went to war about. And in the wrong country (Iraq).

Loved his parody on Bin Laden's being holed up in a cave with no electricity but his camcorder is always fully charged. It's a beautiful setup on the crass stupidity of our military ventures (Iraq, Afghanistan-Pakistan). We are mismanaging the two ...stans as poorly as Iraq - collateral damage with drone fired missiles creating 100 insurgents for each bad-guy kill. We will utimately leave after having created a multitude of enemies in the interim (a la Vietnam, Iraq). It takes comics like Chris Rock to remind us how foolish we are - and the sublety that we don't really want to take Bin Laden out cause the M-I complex likes the unending aspects just fine.

I wonder if this interview was taped before Chris Rock appeared on David Letterman's show on 9/22 or after. On that appearance, President Clinton talked to Letterman about his Global Initiative along with many other timey topics (economy, election). Chris Rock was the guest following Clinton and Chris made some statements that directly referenced President Clinton in a less than flattering light.

If Charlie Rose taped his interview after 9/22, I sure hope he asks Chris Rock about his Letterman appearance. And for folks who missed it, go to youtube and search for "President Clinton Letterman". You'll be glad you did.
