Kobe Bryant is the Great player n the game right now, n Kidd is one the greatest point guard in the NBA. i knew that Kobe going to step up when his team gonna need him. And that's exactely what he did, now don't compare some young players who respect the Kidd already as the best point guard, to some healty kid, i mean CP3 n D. williams. those guys are very good and they have a bright future, but who say they going to keep up like Kidd does. Kidd is the best, don't compare him please... Kobe lol Paul Pierce is just a good player but he ain't the Best, he is far from being the Best, that was the championship talking, that will be his last...

As great as all of the players was that played for the USA mens olympic basketball team People are loosing Sight of the Kobe factor,

Kobe came in a played a roll that allowed every one else to shine in the spot light.

Kobe humble himself and took defensive roll but when it matter like all great players do.

Kobe took this group of super stars and put them on his shoulder and carried them to GOLD.

This is called the growth and muturity of perhaps the greatest player that our generation has seen. Mr Kobe Jelly Bean Bryant

Mr.rose: whaaaaaaaat?spent less time interviewing kobe? imposssible!you must be insane!in fact,he is the one I want to interview most

    5. Millie  09/24/2008 09:44 PM Report

As much as I appreciated Mr. Rose having the guest panel, I wish that he had spent less time interviewing Mr. Bryant (so overexposed and selfish) and more time speaking with Mr. Kidd (so undervalued for his leadership, court vision and overall execution of the game as it should be played). I loved Coach K's assessment of Mr. Kidd's value to the entire team. Thank you.

Basketball championship was expected to come to the US, in the past people messed up and they lost. Its obvious that no nation plays basketball better than the US. Because there is plenty paid for skill and talent in the basketball arena. With respect to the phrase 'let the mumba out of the cage' is a reference used in African (west), its a figure speech used between men talking about a good time with women. Mumba = member, cage = zipper; now use the analytical section of your brain to figure out what it means. Thanks again, Mr. Rose, I hope you bring swimmer Michael Phelps to your show.

This will definitely give Duke a boost with their recruiting! Go USA and Go DUKE!

Sock puppet... shut the hell up with your stupid comments. With all the horrible things going on in our world today, like Iran, Afghan, and our global econiomic troubles, we as people need an outlet to get away for a min or two. So leave your stupid comments to yourself and let us who want to hear about sports do so in peace. If you dont want to hear about it dont go to the sports section of this website. Your a damn loser

Millie, I think you're overcomplicating it. This is a TV show. The point is to get as many people to watch as possible. As was evident in Beijing, Kobe's fan base dwarfs Jason Kidd's by far. Besides the fact that he is the more talented player (best in the game today), he has a much more "TV friendly" personality. He is alot more interesting, funnier, and seems to talk with alot more enthusiasm. Kidd is so monotone and bland. If he has a PR team, they are doing a horrible job of marketing him. But if you're are talking about pure basketball, and each guys role on the team, I have to disagree again. I will admit that I thought Kidd would have been the most valuable piece on this team, but it was very clear that he has lost a step and could not defend the opposing point guards. Coach K relied heavily on Chris Paul and D. Williams to pick up the slack for Kidd. Then you have Kobe single handedly taking over in the final minutes of the gold medal game, as was evident with his ridiculous 4 point play, which was a crucial momemtum shifter in that game. I'd go as far as saying that Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade were more valuable than Kidd as well. But all in all, this was the 2nd greatest team of basketball players ever assembled. Great job bringing home the gold.Hey sock puppet, I'm a vegetarian, maybe that is the solution to all those problems.

    10. RP  09/21/2008 05:17 AM Report

I respectfully disagree with Millie. There is a reason Kobe is "overexposed". Anyone watching US Basketball over the last few years realized how much Kobe's intensity on defense was critical to this team in improving its attitude. He set the work ethic for the team. He has many flaws.. not to be ignored. Just as Kidd has his flaws. He is a great point guard with no shot (and it is a weakness that can especially be exploited in the NBA). Kobe is too one on one sometimes. Regardless, these two were the leaders of the team.

For a slug that likes neither opera nor professional basketball perhaps I can slip this query in without offense, but why are these guys wasting their acumen, easy personalities on basketball? How about working on the financial crises? Diplomatic missions (to Iran maybe)? Advisors to McCain, Obama? But basketball? Have to be better at any of these positions than the incumbents.

RE Mant - flattered you noticed. Thanks.

I've watched Krzyzewski since he was a grad asst. His greatest asset is as a disciplinarian, like his mentor Bobby Knight. And the international rules require that kind of game. And like Knight, he has not made his reputation grooming all-stars, but by winning games. He was the right choice for an Olympic coach. NB - off-topic Mr Puppet?

Populating current conversations with this comment at risk of irritating some, which for those (types) so inclined my profit will compound. This is another (wildly) vivid case for regulation. Even Kosher meat processing is dishonored. Religions don't temper our baser instincts - from carnage to egregious greed. Corporate greed via their lobbying pimps and Congressional venal whores promote the human debasement depicted in the video cited below. Corporate greed to maximize profits dehumanize employees (they of necessity have to overcompensate with an anger at their dumb victims) abuse, torture the dumbest yet the most innocent amongst us. Other earthlings. All slaughter houses need regulating and oversight - particularly corporate ones. They mock Kosher proceedings, but most of all they mock and dishonor common decency. Please pass it on. Why hell if we would do this to dumb animals we might even justify torture of humans, err I mean water-boarding err sensory deprivation err . . . . I repeat, please pass it on. A kernel of humanity towards the humbler (but nobler?) among us might help transfer similar sentiments to ourselves. (A variation of Pogo's revelation.) The link: (it ain't pretty - largely because our values are refracting (magnified) right back at us.) Thanks for your time.
