Holbrooke on the newshour (2/18/2009) was pitching the adopted party line swill. The M-I oligarchy has and is winning once again. The practiced propaganda is insuring by default an ipso facto continuation of the policy of yet another protracted stupid, mindless, and unnecessary killing - ours and theirs. The same sort of culture that would create a world financial crisis - solely for the soulless pieces of eight.

Venality, greed and profit still trumping common sense.

Where are the statesmen? Where are the adults?

__RE Comment by Dave Levy (rabid ISRAEL-FIRST Zionist Jewish PROPAGANDIST) on Monday, Aug 11 at 04:39 PM__: _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________

*ISRAEL* SUPPLIED WASHINGTON WITH MUCH OF THE *PHONY* "WMD" 'INTELLIGENCE' AND *PHONY* "AL-QAEDA"-IRAQ CONNECTIONS THAT PRO-ISRAEL NEOCON ZIONIST JEWS IN THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION AND THE ISRAEL LOBBY USED TO *PUSH* THE U.S. INTO WAR WITH IRAQ --- in which *at least* 4,100+ (that the U.S. govt admits) American soldiers have been outright killed (not including the *many* PTSD suicides from such a war, and "occupational hazards" accidents), and some 50,000-100,000 maimed, crippled, and seriously wounded (many with serious life-long effects) --- not to mention at *least*, by now, a *MILLION* Iraqis killed, MILLIONS wounded, and *MILLIONS* displaced, and about *8 MILLION* in dired need of humanitarian aid. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________

Levy: "Iran is developing long range missiles which can reach US shores. ...I say to this latest Charlie Rose interviewee, and to posters, wake-up, our families, our friends and our very existence is at stake." _______ IS THIS *EVEN MORE* ISRAELI 'INTELLIGENCE' THAT YOU ZIONIST **ISRAEL-FIRST** JEWS ARE USING TO TRY TO PUSH THE U.S. INTO AN EVEN *GREATER* DEBACLE -- ACTUALLY A *CATASTROPHE* -- FOR THE *U.S.* -- IF ISRAEL, THE ISRAEL LOBBY AND THE WASHINGTON ZIONIST JEWISH NEOCONS SUCCEEDED IN THIS. ......AND HOW MANY TIMES HAVE WE HEARD SUCH *PHONY* 'INTELLIGENCE' BEFORE? _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________

As for "the Gulf War", Saddam -- just previously the *U.S.'s* son-of-a-bitch dictator -- WAS **LURED** INTO KUWAIT BY THE *U.S.*!! ......SADDAM EVEN FIRST *ASKED* THE U.S. AMBASSADOR FOR U.S. *PERMISSION* INVADE KUWAIT, OVER KUWAIT'S SLANT DRILLING OIL UNDER IRAQ, BEFORE HE INVADED KUWAIT! ......THE U.S. AMBASSASDOR SAID, IN EFFECT, "*SURE*, GO AHEAD!" ......(this is all a matter of *record*) ......THAT'S WHEN THE U.S. TURNED ON HIM TO DESTROY MOST OF HIS HEAVY MILITARY WEAPONS -- SUPPLIED BY THE *U.S.* AND OUR *ALLIES* -- SINCE HE DIDN'T NEED THEM TO KILL OTHER BROWN-SKIN PEOPLE, i.e. IRANIANS, ANYMORE. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________

ISRAEL HAS *NEVER* USED ITS TROOPS TO FIGHT *OUR* WARS *ANYWHERE*. ......BUT ISRAEL, THE ISRAEL LOBBY, AND ZIONIST JEWISH WASHINGTON NEOCONS, HAVE USED *OUR* TROOPS AND FLEETS TO FIGHT *ISRAEL'S* WARS --- IN LEBANON (where at least 240 American soldiers were killed outright, and at least 60 wounded), IN IRAQ, AND NOW ISRAEL AND THE ISRAEL-FIRST LOBBY WANTS *US* TO ATTACK IRAN! _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________

AND FINALLY, AS FOR "AL-QAEDA", REMEMBER THESE ARE THE VERY SAME SUPPOSEDLY 'DEMOCRATIC-LOVING' MUSLIM FUNDAMENTALISTS (the U.S. has *never* had a problem with Muslim fundamentalists when they were working for the *U.S.*) --- THAT THE *U.S.* SUPPORTED FOR A *DECADE* --- (AS EXTREME, IN THEIR OWN WAY, AS THE _WESTERN *JEWISH* FUNDAMENTALISTS_ WE'VE SUPPORTED IN PALESTINE FOR OVER 60 YEARS, WHO'VE BEEN STEADILY AND BRUTALLY STEALING *INDIGENOUS* PALESTINIAN LAND) --- WHEN THE U.S. MIGHTILY **GOADED** AND *LURED* THE SOVIETS INTO A U.S. PROXY WAR IN AFGHANISTAN --- ONE CELEBRATED IN THE MOVIE "RAMBO III" --- THE ONES WHO HAVE COME BACK TO HAUNT US IN A CLASSIC CASE OF "BLOWBACK" (see book of the same name by University of California prominent political science professor emeritus Chalmers Johnson).

Thank you, gentlemen, ..and, today, it seems like cooler heads may prevail in Georgia as well (..as "We the People" hope!)

    5. Preston  08/13/2008 04:01 PM Report

You're way, way, WAY... out there, and somewhat difficult to understand; but you're polite and have motivated me to learn new words.

    6. sock puppet  08/13/2008 10:57 AM Report

Preston - you prescient rascal. How'd you know even before I announced. That's not the only inane thing I've been guilty of. This for instance demonstrates that.

In the meantime I'm sure I can count on you to join my campaign to get the "[Report Abuse\" link removed, right?

    7. Preston  08/13/2008 08:41 AM Report

Sock Puppet, I don't know you. But I do know how you spent Jan. 1, 2000.

You spent it running around your yard in camouflage, pulling a wagon of bottled water; ceaselessly warning your neighbors of the

"black helicopters" coming to get them.

    8. sock puppet  08/13/2008 01:05 AM Report

Neil - Flattery will get you everything. Apart from "Sicko bastards," used below I'm not given to careless use of obscenities. GITMO and Abu Ghreib along with 'black sites' and torture helped bring us down to a feckless impotence for effective influence sorely needed in places like Darfur, Iran now Georgia. Sicko bastards is just a start on the obscene descriptors needed for an accurate characterization.

    9. Neil MacCallister  08/12/2008 10:25 PM Report

All due respect, Mr. Holbrooke. No "flippance" intended (below), you warned of the Russian hostility, and now will surely be consulted for the next steps. Good luck in all new Peace Accords.

    10. Neil MacCallister  08/12/2008 05:20 PM Report

Sock Puppet, ..maybe you will agree that a person screaming in someone else's ear, ..is no "advocate of free speech". And a person reciting the entirety of 'War and Peace' when asked their opinion on the Iraqi "surge", ..is in fact avoiding the question. I have seen a post of yours which you polished down to 180 well-spoken words, ..but your voice later got lost once again in the haystack of your obscenities. I encourage you to re-embrace that higher respect for your thoughts, and writing ability. "The whole world is watching", ..show yourself proud! Please set your goal a notch higher than learning how to break up your ideas with lines!

These monitors have deleted me again. Which again sets me alight. They should be spending their time getting their GED instead of deleting my posts. It's no longer flattering when it's done so hap-hazardly. So again in the spirit of patriotism for posting everywhere, I'm repeating the gist of my original post.

      _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________

Cited a BBC article about Mr Hamdan, Bin Laden's driver. Then add: "For all that is holy, let this simple man return home to his wife and daughters. We've probably spent millions on a $1.00/day driver. He should have been released in situ. Capturing him initially may have been automatic. Common sense wasn't. His strategic worth could have been established within hours if that long. Drivers are always at the bottom, uneducated and pure lackeys. But we are apparently so desperate for a showing-at-all costs we clutch at such mindless straws. And we crowed about it. Sicko bastards!

      _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________

Monitors: You can delete this of course. If you do I will flood every historical conversation with a copy until you have to selectively filter me out. Nothing will be lost at that point as meaningful dialogue will be elsewhere - not on this bit of filtered pabulum that fits your frame of mind at any particular moment.

    15. --- *REPOSTED* (AFTER DELETION-CENSORSHIP) : DOES CHARLIE VALUE OUR OPINIONS / FEEDBACK / COMMENTS OR *NOT*!? ---   08/12/2008 01:51 PM Report

to _"sock puppet"_: ISN'T IT REALLY *CRUMMY* AND *CHINNTZY* THAT THE COMMENTS SECTION OF CHARLIE'S VIDEO ARCHIVE WEBPAGES DOESN'T PERMIT PARAGRAPH BREAKS? _______ I THINK IT'S *PURPOSELY* DONE (OR NOT DONE) SO THAT PEOPLE --- AND ESPECIALLY MOST INTELLECTUALLY CONSIDERED PEOPLE --- ARE *DISCOURAGED* FROM WRITING ANYTHING BUT BRIEF RESPONSES --- IF AT ALL. ______ NONE OF MY FRIENDS (formally or self-educated) WOULD PUT UP WITH THIS LACK OF PARAGRAPH BREAKS CRAP. ______ I MEAN MOST DECENT, UNIVERSITY-EDUCATED, WRITERS, WHO HAVE SOME CONSIDERATION FOR THIER WRITING, WOULDN'T WANT TO WRITE ANYTHING MORE THAN A PARAGRAPH OR TWO IN ONE ENTIRE BLOCK --- AGAIN, IF AT ALL, FACED WITH NO PARAGRAPH BREAKS. _______ IT ALSO DISCOURAGES *READING* ANYTHING LONGER --- EVEN IF IT'S THOUGHTFULLY AND INCISIVELY WRITTEN --- IN ONE SINGLE BLOCK.

      _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________

ALTHOUGH I'M USING CAPS HERE PRIMARILY TO GET CHARLIE'S, OR HIS PRODUCER'S, OR WEB MONITOR'S ATTENTION, I'VE USUALLY USED THEM NOT ONLY FOR EMPHASIS OF CERTAIN WORDS/PHRASES, BUT ALSO TO DRAW/ATTRACT ATTENTION TO CERTAIN IDEAS OR CATCH-WORDS/-PHRASES (like embedded pull quotes) THAT WOULDN'T BE SEEN OR GET LOST IN BLOCKS/LINES OF SMALL-POINT LETTERS.

      _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________

i.e., I THINK THE VIDEO ARCHIVE COMMENTS SECTION IS REALLY MEANT MORE AS A *MARKETING* AND *PROMOTIONS* DEVICE FOR THE SHOW --- NOT BECAUSE THE CHARLIE ROSE SHOW (Charlie and/or his producers and/or his promoters and marketers) REALLY GIVES A DAMN WHAT WE THINK --- if he/they did then Charlie would stop *CONSTANTLY*, *UNDULY* (although, I mean, no good interviewer wants to let a guest ramble on, or repeat themselves over and over, or go on long tangents, or spout empty platitudes, or be vague or evasive, or hog all the time from others) *INTERRUPTING* the guests who's politics and opinions are more progressive and thus don't comport with Charlie's "noble cause" view of U.S. imperlialist/neocolonialist adventures, debacles and failures -- like Vietnam). ...IT'S ALSO ONE INDIRECT WAY STATISTICALLY (using some appropriate statistical multiplier) TO MEASURE/ESTIMATE AUDIENCE VIEWERSHIP: i.e., *RATINGS*. _______ FOR EXAMPLE, YOU CAN TELL THAT CHARLIE'S INTERVIEW WITH NEIL YOUNG (ON TV AND SUBSEQUENTLY ONLINE) WAS **VERY HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL** IN TERMS OF AUDIENCE VIEWING FROM THE HUGE RESPONSE IT GOT ONLINE UNDER THE VIDEO ARCHIVE.

      _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________

As for my paragraphs, although I *prefer* and tried (once, so far unsuccessfully) to use dotted lines to form/separate makeshift paragraphs or line breaks (I'll have to experiment with that a little more), what I have done successfully is to skip a line at the end of the sentence where I'd want to provide a paragraph break, and then use 3-1/2 lines of underscoring (_______) to get a makeshift paragraph or line break, then skip another line (i.e., press Enter twice) to start a new paragraph/block. _______ (I'd prefer to use a dotted line for makeshift paragraph breaks, and a solid line if I'm addressing more than one subject in one post.) _______ Now even though I skip a line (press Enter twice) after the 3-1/2 lines of underscoring, I still don't get a blank line under the underscoring lines (maybe I should try skipping two lines (pressing Enter thrice); I'll try it above to see if that works: if it's not there it didn't work). Good luck, "sock puppet". So far, what I've had a chance to read of yours under different videos, and what I recollect off-hand, sounds *good* -- like your comment on Aug 8:

      _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________

WOULDN'T THAT BE LIKE THE WORLD COURT PROSECUTING BUSH'S/RUMSFELD'S/CHENEY'S/RICE'S **CHAUFFEUR** FOR THE U.S. MILITARY *INVASION* OF IRAQ, IF THE FOUR OF THEM (B/R/C) EVER CORRECTLY ENDED UP ARRESTED IN EUROPE (by, say, Spain, like Pinochet was) AND PROSECUTED AT THE HAGUE FOR WAR CRIMES. ______ NOT EVEN *HITER'S* CHAUFFEUR WAS PROSECUTED FOR WAR CRIMES! ______ OR AS ONE TV COMMENTATOR ASTUTELY PUT IT, ..."IF PROSECUTING BIN LADEN'S *DRIVER* AS 'A DIRE TERRORIST THREAT', AS 'AMONG THE WORST OF THE WORST', AS 'A TERRORIST KINGPIN', IS SUPPOSED TO WIN 'THE WAR ON TERROR' AND AGAINST 'AL-QAEDA', IF THAT'S THE FIRST CASE TO GO TO A U.S. MILITARY TRIAL, SOMEONE ACTUALLY *THAT LOW* ON THE TOTEM POST, THEN I DON'T THINK WE'RE GOING TO WIN!"

    16. Preston  08/12/2008 07:29 AM Report

TABS and MacCallister, I'm here to pull you out of the pit of hell. Don't bother trying to reason with the asylumtees, just sit back and watch them eat each other alive.

Why do I have this feeling that Holbrooke will be Obama's running mate?

    18. Dave Levy  08/12/2008 05:21 AM Report

First of all, Israel, while officially for the war to liberate Iraq (not occupy), in private discussions warned that Iraq was a basket case, and that the goal of bringing democracy to this dysfuntional country was absurd. We went to war, Mr. Interviewee, not to expand our empire or secure oil, or any other purpose, except to stop Islamic-fascism, in Afghanistan AND other areas where terrorists were hiding, receiving aid and comfort, and had the potential of WMD (against US and our interests). As far as Iran, Iraq and Iran were equally OUR enemies....Iran hated US after the Shah's regime was destroyed by J. Carter..and Iraq invaded Iran, Kuwait, sent 500 missiles into Iran (with lethal warheads), bombed Saudi Arabia and Israel..killed over 1m Muslims in it's wars, and butchered 500,000 Iraqis (Shias). Iraq had the potential and willingness to re-occupy Kuwait, take over Arabia's oil fields, and arm surrogate terrorist groups to kill millions of Americans. That's WHY we invaded Iraq..AND we accomplished our initial purpose. Unfortunately, Iraq was more of a basket case than we thought. Iraq HAD LINKS with Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups, and was giving support to terrorist Palestinian thugs and their families. However, Israel NEVER needed US help, and, other than some arms, will never need US troops. It has 400 nukes and can take care of itself. To "engage" with Iran is pointless..we have tried it, over and over and over again,,just recently with a high level Dept of State official. Iran, typically stalled, it's goal to have nukes within 1 year..to use as leverage against US and US interests in the region and the world. Iran is developing long range missiles which can reach US shores..either directly or through surrogages. I say to this latest Charlie Rose interviewee, and to posters, wake-up, our families, our friends and our very existence is at stake. I suggest taking our Iran's nuke capacity ASAP, before they take out Washington. D.C. The liberal defeat and retreaters, and "engage" them mantality is doomed to failure. Ahmad is worse than Hitler. He will have the capacity to kill millions with one bomb. We are engaging now the Russian bear..and look what it's gotten US, nothing but more dead Georgians, trying to bring democracy to their country. Sure, let's engage China ( which understands that Bush 2nd is currently President, NOT Bush 1st ) and that in January, we (US) will have a new President, hopefully John McCain, who will look Ahmad, Assad, Abbas, Jong and Chavez directly into their eyes..and not give inspiring speeches about we all loving one another. I say to all Americans who watch the Charlie Rose show..beware people like Carter, Buchanan, Baker, and their ilk. They are leading this country into disaster.

Wow! This looks like a NY sidewalk on the 30th day of a garbage strike! But you left yourself open to this, Mr. Holbrook, with the mushy advisements like: "We need completely new approaches!", and "We need to work things out in Afghanistan and Pakistan!" I can't believe you actually offered, "And the Germans just want us to elect someone that will listen to them!" Or better yet, that "I would combine my thoughts on the Turkey-Iraq-Iran-Afghanistan-Pakistan area." (..Wow! I'll support you on that!) I'll admit, you are honest: You did announce that you are supporting Sen. Obama. Reports say you would like the Sect. of State job. I find by your answers here, that you will fit right in! 24. TABS  08/10/2008 03:41 PM Report

In other words Mr Sock..Mr Holbroke should tell it like it is and forget the partisan spin. It is the partisan spin that undermines his credibility. Sometimes one may agree with a political ideologies stance on an issue as being the correct course of action. One in those circumstances should just reiterate ones position and leave it at that, without the commercial. Mr Holbroke is not in the business of making commercials, he is in the business of analyzing, assessing and formulating solutions to foreign policy problems.

    25. sock puppet  08/10/2008 03:15 PM Report

TABS - When I comprehend what I think you say I often agree with you. However, your comment here seems to conflict. He's either ". . . clear and unbiased. . .," or ". . . partisan." Some may say in these times to be clear and unbiased reqires partisanship, or at least against the status quo which may translate.

    26. TABS  08/09/2008 06:24 PM Report

Mr Holbroke is a total and utter failure when it comes to partisan politics. The one commodity that Mr Holbroke has to sell is his clear and unbiased analysis of a situtation. When he delves into partisan politics he undermines his own credibility and lessens his own worth.

To his credit Holbrooke favored shutting down GITMO, so presumably he wouldn't object to his site being coopted on behalf of Mr. Hamdan.
