I don't think Obama is ready to be President of the U.S. maybe next time. he's flip-flopped wayyy too much. I do believe he's a very bright guy, however, i feel he's very unexperienced. having said that, i believe he will make a great Pres. some day, just not this election.
i wish mcCain was Obama's age, but he's not. Nevertheless, I feel he's the more mature candidate.
As an independent voter; I don't feel Obama will solve the immigration problem, i think he's going to make it worse. I also feel that his speech in Germany was very Hippie-dippie, let's all love one another, and no one will disagree with that. It was a "C" speech for me.
Another very important note here is that, Obama disagreed and continues to disagree with the surge. If he had to vote again, he would vote against the surge. That's got to make you think, voter..., no? Is he on the same page as the Generals? The way to end this war is through self dependency from oil, right here, right now, in our own country, as Neil young pointed out in a recent interview, BTW, Go NEIL, he's doing some amazing things for our country and the world.
A suicide terrorist blew her self up in Iraq to day and.. does he still want to pull troops out of Iraq? As much as i would like for this war to end, i just don't feel it will any time soon. i, like, Obama, disagreed with this war, but we're there now and we have to help the Iraqi people, THE END.

No mention about the free concert held before Obama spoke. Patrice is a well known reggae star and so is the other one.
Plus - I lost respect for Obama when he elected to work out at the Ritz rather than have a private visit - no cameras and press - with the heroes at the hospital. Then, his campaign tried to blame it on the Pentagon.
Who paid for the trip? Was he a Senator - which means I paid for it - or Presidential candidate - which means his campaign donations paid for it. Who? I suspect we did.

Another good interview and another good panel of guest pundits except this should have been held at the end of Obama's overseas trip, not at the beginning. Hopefully Charlie will have another interview to discuss Obama's trip after it's over.
It's impossible for any one politician to please everyone. Unfortunately the closer we get to the election, emotions govern more than reason in greater and greater proportion.
I agree Obama should have been tougher with Israel and hopefully he will be when or if he becomes President. Despite the injustices towards the Palestinians, why don't they make peace to get their land back? Why do they keep terrorizing instead? What has that accomplished in the last 60 years?

"China can wait until his second term" - excellent conclusion, I would say. US-China relationship is on solid ground under Bush, and there is a lot of collaboration between the two governments on many key international issues such as North Korea, such trend will continue under the new president. Much of the friction with China is in the area of trade, which should be managed through dialogue. The strategic dialogue existing today should continue, and will serve the two governments well.

Likudniks, AIPAC, and Shelly Alderson wouldn't like Barack Obama if he got everyone a free condo on the West Bank. Who cares about Likudniks?

after reading the comments I must say the left still is wildly negative, and not original(Industrial military complex...come on guys) for no real apparent reason...

Not one of the guests (if I recall correctly) observed that Obama's reception in Germany bespoke the degree to which Europeans loathe the reigning American administration.

I had a problem with Obama's speech in Germany - the reference to the "Soviet shadow"in the saame breath as referring to our landing in Germany after the war when Europe lay in rubble. Hey, Germany caused that war and laid waste to major portions of the Soviet Union. I found the slam against the Soviets and the praise for the Germans in the context of immediate post-WW2 quite disturbing and bad history. Other than that, nice speech.

What Obama should have told Israel.
Israel is in violation of International Laws, United Nations Resolutions, is ILLEGALLY occupying Palestine Land and treats the Palestine People inhumanly.
When I am sworn in as President of the United States, I will plan that Israel has returned to its 1948 boundaries, is abiding by ALL International Laws, is abiding by ALL United Nations resolutions, and has guaranteed the Palestine People their right of return.
If not, I will stop all aid to Israel and put together a collation like was used to force Iraq out of Kuwait. When the Nazis continued to violate International Law after Land was taken from Czechoslovakia and given to them, they were forced to accept unconditional surrender. Nothing less will be accepted from Israel.
Under my leadership the United States will become a Nation of Laws enforced equally on all people.

Did I hear Bronner right? Did he say that nothing short of war with Iran would satisfy the Jews, even the so-called 'moderate' ones? You got to be kidding me.

TABS: "What does Obama have, 120 days in the Senate before announing." And "Exactly what kind of government are Americans going to get with an Obama Presidency(?)." ______ I don't even care for Obama, or Hillary or McCain -- they're *ALL* pro-military-industrial-complex RepubliCrat imperialists (even Obama wants to *increase* the size of already the world's most hyper-funded and most powerful military by multiples), and it's like they're all really running for 'President of Israel': they must all go, genuflect, and kiss the Zionist ring -- the same Zionists (Israeli Prime Minister and high govt officials, AIPAC and Washington neocons) that mightily pushed for the U.S. invasion of Iraq, their feeding/reinforcing false intelligence about WMD'S, and then have been mightily pushing for a *CRRR-RRRAZY* U.S. military attack/invasion on Iran. (We think we've go problems *now*...!!!) ______ And I agree with RE Mant here about glassy-eyed, idealistic, politically star-struck liberal Germans (tho I thought that liberal Germans these days were smarter and more politically perceptive), or Americans, or anyone else. (Wait until the liberal Germans hear that Obama wants Germany to send actual overseas *combat* fighting troops to Afghanistan -- in violation of the German Constitution!) Remember how LBJ was supposed to save America from that frothing at the mouth, arrogant, ultra-nationalist, hyper-jingoistic, warmongering Goldwater? The Democrats just use a softer tone, and don't overtly alienate our European allies, but still (even Carter, who gets a pass, because of his now folksy 'homebuilding' PR: build a handful of homes while homelessness still rises) pursues the same American int'l economic and imperialist foreign policy -- or worse. ______ (It reminds me of the "liberal" Labor party in Israel: the Labor party actually built more illegal, by int'l law, Jewish settlements than Israel's conservative, Likud, party -- which actually withdrew the illegal settlements in the Gaza strip! -- but, of course, institutionally reinforced them in the West Bank.)
--- EXCEPT, OF COURSE, IN ISRAEL-PALESTINE --- 07/25/2008 12:34 AM Report
BARACK OBAMA (same old wine in a new bottle/color) in Berlin today: "...the walls between races and tribes ... Christians and Muslims and Jews cannot stand. These now are the walls we must tear down." ---- EXCEPT ISRAEL'S 'WARSAW GHETTO' STYLE APARTHEID WALLS ('ON STEROIDS') THAT AREN'T MEANT TO NECESSARILY SO MUCH SEPARATE CHRISTIAN & MUSLIM PALESTINIANS FROM JEWS, AS ISRAEL'S 26'-46' APARTHEID WALLS ARE REALLY *MEANT* TO NOT ONLY STEAL MORE PALESTINIAN LAND, BUT ALSO (with well over 400 internal Israeli military checkpoints *within* the Palestinian areas) TO CUT OFF AND SEPARATE PALESTINIANS FROM *EACH OTHER* (to even divide up Palestinian farms, orchards and remaining towns) IN ISRAEL'S GHETTOIZATION / BANTUSTANIZATION, AND ONGOING ATTEMPTED SOCIO-ECONOMIC DESTRUCTION, OF PALESTINIAN SOCIETY. _____ No, Barack doesn't say anything about official JEWISH STATE RACISM (Zionism -- ideological Zionist Jewish apartheid) IN *ISRAEL*!
RE Mant 07/25/2008 12:02 AM Report
The Germans, of course, are glad that anyone pays any attn to them at all anymore, but they should remind themselves of how much good another, similarly venerated, idealistic American Democratic president, Woodrow Wilson, actually did them. Or for that matter JFK. They hated LBJ. The Germans and the Europeans as a whole have become not a little querulous under American protection in the last 50 years. I have long thought that the next president would be just as bad if not worse than Bush in the way that Nixon was worse than LBJ even if from the opposite party and pledging to end the present war. Obama's secretiveness and media managment, his platitudes and vagaries, patronizing and presumptuousness, naviety and frequent real stupidity as he begins to talk about issues is tooooo familiar. In short, I think Obama is much more like Bush than McCain is.
TABS 07/24/2008 06:42 PM Report
Hillary can be heard muttering these days while shaking her head, "The nomination should have been mine...have been mine." So how did this turn of events even come about? Obama was supposed to be a thrown against the wall and see if it sticks, also ran against Hillary candidate; fronted by the Daley's of Chicago. A time for Obama to mature, hone his political skills and show his face for a future run for the big job in Washington. Perhaps if he showed well enough a possible VP slot on the Hillary ticket could be his......However the "idiots out wandering around" decided that Obama was their man. That along with Hillary's political ally, Govenator Elliot Spitzer's indecorous political demise weakened Hillary at the critical moment. Allowing Tedy K to tilt outcome in Obama's direction. By the time Hillary recovered it was too late......So where is Hillary today, seen and not heard, making herself as inconspicuous as possible? Wanting nothing to do with the Obama campaign? It seems like a lot of Democrats are stepping aside for this one. When a died in the wool Liberal Democrat like Jamie Dimon declares nationally that the "Democrats are crazy and could ruin the country" you know there is trouble brewing in River City....Exactly what kind of government are Americans going to get with an Obama Presidency. If history is any kind of indication one only needs to look at how the State of Illinois is run, because those are the people who handle Obama. Exactly who owns those toll roads again in Illinois? Exactly when was that road supposed to be fixed again? So if you like how Illinois is run you will like how Obama will run America.
TABS 07/24/2008 05:41 PM Report
Obama's Insurmountable Problem............................When JFK took the Democratic Party nomination he had been a Congressman and a Senator from MA. Moreover he had a war record where he served with bravery. One knew exactly what kind of stuff JFK was made of. He was his own man and could prove it. What does Obama have, 120 days in the Senate before announing. Twenty years of rubber stamping every Liberal proposal in Ill. The question that is UNANSWERABLE, even though the Democrats will try to spin and spin is who is going to be running the nation if Obama is elected President? Will Obama be Carolines Kennedys lap dog, or at the beck and call of every extrermist policy of Nancy Pelosis. Nobody can answer what kind of stuff Obama is made of, not until he has been down in the trenchs and been able to prove his leadership skills in real time. Until then Obama is an unknown quanity and does America want to put an unknown in command of the ship of state?
