Thanks Charlie never caught this interview as a writer August Wilson has definitely inspired more than any other playwright except David Mamet.

I used to see August at the coffee shop on 15th Ave on Capitol Hill in Seattle, WA. He always sat outside at a covered table smoking a cigarette and having a his coffee. I must admit, I had no idea who he was, but he always made room for another person at the covered table.

It was a gay neighborhood then, less so now, and when I learned from a baristi involved in the local arts scene that he was August Wilson I made certain not to notice. However, after that I felt a slight suspicion on his part that I had made him. August died shortly after. I very much enjoy these interviews with him. Thanks Charlie!
