Just saw the show and loved it; agreed with Ben Brantley: it's hard to find a single thing to criticize. A huge thank you to Bartlett and his passion and artistry and great cast. One tiny little thing: In the explosion of joy that "Wonderful Guy" becomes, I rather doubt that Mary Martin's Nellie would have sat still so long at the beginning; it's an interesting choice--having Nellie be so contemplative at first. But Kelli--and everyone, really--are so marvelous. I want to see it again! Bravo!

Most modern musicals deserve the thin, barely adequate musical accompaniment they receive. The revival of "South Pacific" at Lincoln Center, however, has not only Rogers and Hammerstein's beautiful book and music but also the director, the singers/actors, the set, the lighting and the 30-piece orchestra it deserves.

I saw "South Pacific" the week it opened and have already bought tickets to see it again! Thanks for interviewing Bartlett Sher, who has given us that most rare and wonderful experience, a perfect night at the (musical) theatre.

I am a devotee of Goddard Lieberson, Pres of Columbia Records in the 40's and 50's, who elevated the musical entity into high public esteem and enormous record sales. I believe he would have felt

      doubly rewarded by this interview.

Mr Sher was open and articulate with Charlie's prodding for insights into the skills which enabled him to find and select the talents for this renewed South Pacific, and then to orchestrate performers and product

into the resulting wonderfully lively performance, familiar yet totally new. It was a memorable and exciting interview.

Bravo Bartlett Scher and company. With daughter and granddaughter I was profoundly moved by this South Pacific. Thank you Bartlett, thank you Charlie, this was a fascinating interview.

Regarding your program with Bartlett Scher on 5-19-2008. Please ask him if he has considered "Porgy and Bess"? Thanks!

This seems pretty good. Nevertheless, I think it underscores the depth to which Bdway has fallen since 1949.
