@fjgajewski; You or I is correct traditional English usage. I don't think Americans can really lecture on English, remember where the language started (hint: the answer isn't Washington).
@RE MANT; What? The British started the cold war? I thought the Russians did that?

Mr. Rose, I consider this conversation with foreign minister of the United Kingdom as another fine work of yours. So young looking, and so bright, such a fine politician who does not give direct answer to a simple question, and very likable Foreign Secretary Britain could ever have produced. I am surprised Secretary Milliband lived here in the States in the 1970s, and received a certificate from a US university. There is one thing I have a little bit unsatisfying answer he gave, the three crunches are not the main reason for Brits to reject the Labor Party's policy under Prime Minister Blair, the main reason is the "sexing up the Iraq threat" to justify the war against Iraq just to support Pres.GWB's flawed decision, despite the strong objection from Brits. The credit crunch, the rise of gas price, and the rise of food price, came about due to the false war against Iraq. Many people fail to associate the hidden link between the rise of gas price and food price as well as credit crunch. Credit crunch could have been beaten or contained had there not be a wrong war against Iraq, which is sucking up the economy and frustrating many people, which would not have interrupted oil production in Iraq for many years and angering US consumers to be self sustaining by introducing the biofuels, essentially holding millions of tons of crops at home for ethanol production essentially drying supply of maize (corn) from North America. That is the main reason for the American people and the people of Britain to reject their respective governments at the same time. I did not expect for Forein secretary to come out and say what I have writen, but at least he could have mention the Iraq war, after all everyone knows it, its not a secret war.

@Bob Jones
It is generally considered by many historians that Winston Churchill's famous Iron Curtain speech antagonized the Soviet Union and dragged us into the Cold War. So yes the Brits are responsible here.
I will never understand how why there was so much hysteria after WWII. Post traumatic stress I suppose.

Milliband is right on globalization being good for jobs. In the 70s here Thatcher removed subsidies, protections, and all the socialist gunk that kept manufacturing jobs in Britain. They moved to countries like China, now there are more people than ever in work in the UK and they all earn more ... it was tough for a few years as those people went without jobs and were bitter until they realized they had to find new jobs and train, many of the lazy workers who relied on the manufacturing jobs hate Thatcher but so what.
I'm surpised a country like America still has unions and all the socialist rubbish, that Thatcher - the great friend of Reagan - removed from this country and freed up the working class people. The people who used to do these manufacturing jobs here are now much better off, they own their own homes and can afford holidays abroad every year, I don't imagine those working in US factories can do that right now ...

Thank you for the Milband interview, it was well done. I just watched a you-tube video on The Edward R. Murrow speech " Good Night and Good Luck. " Don't confuse desent with disloyality, we need to get up our fat surpluses. Is television just something to entertain, amuse & insulate? Today, with the antiChrist as our president and the elite corporate CEO's as our Supreme leader you should do an hour on Edward R. Murrow and Fred Friendly. I know that you are a slave of corporations and investment banks but you have simple roots. Our country ,I mean the people that do all the work, drive the trucks,the people that work for corporations that don't pay a living wage need a voice. Thank Mr. Rose for what you do,I know that you love your job.

Hi Charlie, I enjoyed both interviews last night and was glad to see some one who was not afraid to open their mouths and really talk.

Come on, Charlie. There is no credibility for those fearmongering against Iran for two reasons. One, Israel has nuclear weapons, and more succinctly, two, Iran needs electricity badly...as outlined in this IHT op-ed.
http://www.iht.com/articles/2003/10/14/edsahimi_ed3_.php Only a moron in a hurry would consume oil at $130/barrel for their own electricity generation, instead of exporting it to increase their foreign reserves, and fiscal stability.

Hello Charlie;
Is it true that the main reason you and our major news media often discuss the Iranian Nuclear issue but never mention Israelâ??s illegal mass nuclear arsenals is because according to our major news media Iran has many spies in our country and Israel never ever been caught spying on us? Otherwise our trusted news media and most likely PBS would have covered it!
RE Mant 05/20/2008 12:53 AM Report
This is the same lame argument the British have made since they discovered they could no longer afford to bully anything except beef. It got us into both world wars and possibly the Cold War, as well, and I am not sure that we are not following in their footsteps even now. A case of the tail wagging the dog. BTW, global trade is not the same as free-trade.
fjgajewski 05/19/2008 11:59 PM Report
" . . . to you or I . . . "? He needs to learn English. Did you notice that the nuclear
powers never worry about reducing their nuclear
arsenals? Not much incentive for Iran to give up its presumed ambitions.
