I awoke this morning thinking about Heath (yet again)- of how he fleshed out the pure beauty and sensitivity of his heart in all his acting. How deeply, sincerely and seriously he took everything he did- and at the same time how much humour and electric energy he infused it with.

We can talk about the loss of his life in terms of what we will never see him do- but for me the deepest sadness is for the private sorrows in his life and where they took him. We have already been so much more than given to. If only we could have given more to him.

Heath's death is so hard to accept. Shakespeare's sonnet #18 was a perfect tribute for him. Now that Heath is no longer with us there is definitly a huge void for family, friends, fans and for the movie industry. It will be hard to move on. Heath should have gotten the 2006 Academy Award, not just the nomination for Brokeback Mountain, the fact that he did not receive one goes to show that the industry is backward and not ready for this kind of high caliber performance or talent. The Hollywood industry needs to get over their homophobia, spinelessness and give credit where credit is due.

its his silence i can't stop hearing. i just don't want to bear it. i felt my heart drop and whispered please no as i heard the breaking news tuesday afternoon and if i hadn't been on a highway overpass i would have pulled over. the loss of his promise and his presence is too much. it's not just because of his performances and abilities which are often beyond extraordinary. it's his face and smile, that voice, his soul older than his years, his energy. the grief fills me and its almost unbearable. like a brother or a friend. brokeback mountain's the only movie i ever paid to see three times at a theatre and i've just watched it three more times this week along with the interviews with the brilliant people who made it. sobbing through much of it all and the perfection that it is just makes me sob more. I spent many years of my life working with actors helping them find and define their characters for the stage so i know of whom i speak here. his loss is unfathomable for me and for all of us. there is no easy way through pain. there never is. time is all. my heart and thoughts are with his family and his beautiful daughter.

The last time I felt this badly about an actor's untimely death was when Jimmy Dean hit the farmer's truck in his Porsche.

      The 'beat' goes on...

      Dear Heath...

      LOve,

This bouquet full of scents like u HEATH is for u! Beleive me and much more people will agree with me that u deserved much more. I was thinking of few oscars and not just a nomination. Hollywood punk!: u did not reconize HEATH as it should. I wonder since his tragic death if it is really real and wish maybe it is just a dream. If at happy New Year 2008 I could even knew that this was gone happen I would have made a wish to make sure that HEATH, u will be still here. I am so sad and sorry. What a lost my dear love! They say that u could have done so much more, but don't worry because at your age u did so much allready. All of your movies are the best ones of all times, one better than the other. YOU R A GOD !

This is so sad. This young man had so far to go,his talent was so apparent in knights, wow he made me feel good.He was a stars star.Hollyweird screws everyone up.he was who he was and we have to except that as all good. It's all you can do.There really was'nt much for him to do at his level. He squeezed brokeback so hard,i could hardley breath. It'll suc not to see him work the magic.Enjoy heaven.

The way he talks about his role shows that he's an truly talented actor. What a loss!

    9. Dave Peneton  01/23/2008 10:20 PM Report

in over 50 years of movie going, Brokeback Mountain is the only film I have ever paid to see three times. What a sad day for all of us, to lose such talent, such promise. His body of work will stand as his testamant of greatness seen and greatness we will never experience now. The world will miss a great talent and a remarkable man. Prayers to his family in their time of grief!!!

Sometimes, in the rarest of moments, we seem to be able to look into someone's soul through the roles they play as an actor ... the way they turn their head or stop to think before they answer questions. Heath Ledger had a sort of humility and thoughtfulness around him. I hope there is a heaven just so I can see Heath perform with that humble intensity again.

Film has lost a talented actor, he'll be remembered for his oscar nominated performance but at the end he'll be remembered as a loving father to his daughter. My thoughts are with his family.

      You will be missed Heath.

What a shock. So sad for his family especial his daughter. It breaks my heart. I'll always remember him and for a fan like me, I always have good memories from his works Brothers Grim, A Knights Tale and the Patriot and his completed work in the Dark Knight.

      Still...so sad.

What a waste! I was looking forward to this young man entertaining me for years to come. He was such a talent. How very sad that his life ended so abruptly at such a young age. My heart goes out to his parents and loved ones. I'll miss him!

So very sad that such a young, charming and talented actor has gone. Memories of River Phoenix immediately come to mind. Such a shame!
