This was a most enjoyable interview. Informative and entertaining and well-done on both sides.

Why did you have to kill the "Sweet bird"? That little song bird Loves you.

Time is running out. Joni speak the Truth. Have you ever heard the the Words of God? Do you have a heart?

    5. dogman  05/07/2009 01:02 AM Report

Dear Ms. Joni Mitchell: Let me ask you the one question that Charlie Rose was afraid to ask. When novelist stop writing about your sexual exploits, your romeo leather ballet shoes are hung on the wall, the Joni Mitchell museums are closed, your paintings and music fade into oblivion, when no one cares about your I Ching, and even the Words of God are forgotten and we are all buried: What will remain?

    6. dogman  04/08/2009 11:42 PM Report

One day your people will read these comments. I hope it won't be too late. When all things turn to dust, when there is no Charlie Rose and no Joni, no Willie there will be only one thing that remains; my Love for you.

    7. dogman  02/27/2009 11:19 PM Report

      Dogman = Willie Yanock

    8. dogman  02/27/2009 11:17 PM Report

      I love you Joni.

Comparing today's U.S. to pre-WWII Nazi Germany is an abomination and simply ignorant. What is she even talking about when she says "the girls are grotesquely aggressive."?

To say the American people are ignorant is a generalization. Certainly a majority of Americans are oblivious to certain atrocities that go on e.g. Darfur. But at the same time, those of us (including Mr. Rose himself) who care to investigate the state of the world objectively can be very well-informed actually.

Ms. Mitchell, if the U.S.A. is such a dark and sinister place, why do you still live here and allow your grandchildren to grow up here?

    13. Willie Yanock  05/12/2008 03:05 AM Report

I don't know anything and I don't pretend to know anything all I know is that God blessed me with Joni and the Truth will shine. ps I love you Joni, if your listening.

Joni Mitchell is an icon, a seasoned artist, a musical legend. She is also an intelligent woman concerning social issues, as she always has been. People should put aside their stereotypical outlooks, and not be so quick to dismiss her commentary as the ramblings of just another hippie, and actually listen to her. She expresses a raw inclination to grasp what is going on and is not ashamed to voice it, regardless of how ugly the truth is (by this I am referring to her criticism of the government. Last time I checked, criticising a country wasn't only permitted to those who are citizens of the country. People are people and possess the same inalienable rights to voice themselves, and she does a great job of it. She's a poet, a painter, a treasure.

It seems that when there is a chance to have insight that could help to steer the youth of today-the least amount of time is put into passing this knowledge along. Why doesn't it merit at least as much delving into as the pathetic repitition of the beating of the drums of over-achieving,voracious,war-mongering powerbrokers that seem so at ease(and for such lenghthy interviews) with feeding crap by the truckload to Charlie? Or is it possible that the fish does not appear to be big enough to fry? Come on Charlie, would it kill you to do some indepth footwork with Joni? Hopefully you haven't grown so large that you know longer find the need or desire to promote the treasures-as well as the trash. You might be very suprised to find that there are as many people willing to look for hope as there are willing to feed cheap frenzy.

God forgive me for loving a woman so much.

Joni Mitchell for an hour without interruptions and editing, please! I'm surprised and disappointed that these pieces were so brief. She is a unique talent and thinker. There is so much we have yet to learn from her.

    20. Willie Yanock  02/05/2008 04:10 PM Report

Excellent photography! I stared into her eyes and heart was lifted towards the heavens. I know how beautiful she is and its not her job to chastise my country, it's my job. I once told her to be polite for we walked on the moon and if I call myself a man of God then I must start with Love and forgive all for the pain inflicted. Time is getting late, well at least for me but her love for her grandchildren must be applaunded and encouraged. All of us have greater capacities each one of us can change the world for the better after all she is just a painter. Perhaps she could sing or paint the beauty she has witnessed only to encourage her grandchidren to share the Love God has given us.

The Green Room is only supposed to be, obviously, a chance to get a brief, overall interview of someone. I very much enjoyed this one, and it was very interesting to see Joni compare today's administration with preWarII Germany! Wow. By now we should have heard this take and the right is missing their chance to burn another celebrity at the stake, as is their trademark.

Glad to have this interview, although brief, and lets have at least a half hour one sometime. Joni has seen it all and we should hear her tell it.

    22. redrose  01/31/2008 07:08 PM Report

Thanks for augmenting the interview with this. The interview was way too short and chopped up. Charlie seemed disinterested. Please get Joni back for a full hour and let her finish a thought! Don't interrupt and don't edit!

Can we not get an hour long with Joni? Pretty please...?

    25. Jman  01/28/2008 03:46 AM Report

Joni is the best female artist of the 20th century.

    26. Stephen Haynes  01/23/2008 12:19 PM Report

Joni is one of our most singular artists, one who has gracefully transcended the typical time limitations inherant in popular music. Then again, she defines and occupies her own space, rightly so, earned. Her work, like so much of matters to many of us, defies labels and limitations.

Any window into her world is welcome to those of us who follow her growth and embrace her sensibilities.

Brava Joni! You (continue to)inspire us all.
