The three Charlie Rose interviews with Christian Bale are among the best I've seen with him. (I imagine he appreciates being asked interesting, intelligent, and informed questions for a change!) His dedication to his craft and self-deprecating humor comes through, esp. in this one w/Christopher Nolan. Despite the critical acclaim he's earned over the years, Bale is still very underrated. At the very least, he should have been nominated for an Oscar for "American Psycho," but I suspect his character was far too controversial for the Academy. Does Bale have to play someone with a mental or physical disability to get the recognition he truly deserves? Ah, well, I guess I shouldn't let it bother me. It doesn't seem to bother him!

Christopher Nolan is possibly the greatest director ever to do a batman movie he redefined the Batman character in a whole new level. And also great choice for Heath Ledger as the Joker

I think Christian Bale is the best actor of all time in my opinion, & also as a big fan of Batman, I'm very impressed that Bale is one of the few actors that knows about the superhero they potray.

Christian has said that whatever accent he has in the movie, he promotes the film with the same accent. Also, he said that Batman is an "american" comic/book thing so he wanted to promote it in an American accent.

Castor, Bale isn't Cockney at all. He was born in Wales. And it was his decision, not the studio's, to use an American accent while promoting Batman. I agree with you that it shouldn't matter where's he from, but there's certainly precedent for people getting upset when beloved roles are cast against expectation.

His accent here is not quite Batman- this was filmed during the time he was shooting Rescue Dawn. If you check that film out, you'll notice the accent is the same

I've read that he likes to stay in character accent wise during interviews to make things easier although from the sounds of this interview the movie was finished shooting. My favorite actor hands down.

Christian Bale is by far the greatest actor to ever don the cape and cowl of the cape crusader

Bale is a method actor, in other interviews I have seen his accent change, perhaps he just remains in charecter. Just a thought.

I think it is cool that he can stay in character for the interview.. No matter what accent he uses, I love it!

Apparently the studio asked him to speak in a "clearer" accent when promoting Batman Begins.
They feared his thick cockney accent would turn people off of seeing the film.
Which is ridiculous...but hey, studio people are idiots.

did anyone notice that Bale did this entire interview in an american accent...
