TLJ is fully aware of the George C Scott version and although he respects the work of that actor doesn't think the original movie fulfilled the potential of the novel. He hopes to do that and personally I think he's well up to the job.

He said he BOUGHT the rights to the movie. You can buy the rights to a movies after it's made. It's called a remake.

You needs to explain to Tommy Lee that Hemingway's ISLANDS IN THE STREAM has already been made into a movie, starring George C. Scott, Claire Bloom and Hart Bochner. Tommy's really confused if he thinks he owns the screen rights to this, but do tell him that I have a bridge to sell him, if he's interested.

This man is just consistently good. I appreciate that his movies are generally for adults. It is kind of strange because you'd think that with his distinct look and voice he would seem the same in his movies - and he doesn't. Both movies look worth my time - love Susan Sarandon, too.
