Happy Christmas to all people in the Fred-Jordan
Mission: enjoy the peace of christmas, it`s rough out there.
Mandelson: europe has a social security system,
cares for it*s people, if they*re out of work.
Charlie: you think, we don`t have it here.
Robert Stepney 10/10/2007 04:56 PM Report
I think charlie rose took the offensive at times during the latter half of the interview, but I agree with Mandaelson in that the US needs to "open up" the economy to more of it's members in society. In my opinion, the real question is how much of the countrys' wealth from trade will trickle down and thru our current division of labor to promote growth as a nation in whole?
Lowell Fraley 10/10/2007 03:45 PM Report
Perhaps Charlie's discomfort was due to Mr. Mandelson's near demagoguery stance when asked about the growing resistance to globalization as it now practiced.
Mr. Mandelson seemed to be saying that it was allright to replace the dynamic, capitalist middle-class in the US with a socialist system.
Phillip LeBel 10/10/2007 01:14 PM Report
It seems that after a cordial start, you became impatient with Peter Mandelson's remarks on the role of the EU in the global economy. No one is arguably more articulate than Peter Mandelson on world trade issues and I think he handled the sometimes interrupted remarks with grace and objectivity. Let's hope interviews such as these will not descend to something on the order of a McLaughlin screaming match!
