What a fat despot and I am an Arab! And I also would simply like to say to the gentleman below me: you cannot be serious. These countries would not survive a second without Western protection and support. These Gulf Arabs are considered the lowest of the low in the Arab World.

Two points that are directly relevant to US policy struck me from this interview. First, he raises the point that any U.S. strike against Iran would further damage our reputation in the region and our relationship with friendly countries like Qatar. This warning was stated quietly but exceedingly clearly.

The second point was towards the end of his discussion when he stated that his country continues to invest heavily in health, education, and infrastructure. The Bush administration seems to see little value investments in these areas. In the longer run, countries that have made these investments, from Norway to Singapore, are more secure and have brigther futures for all their citizens.

Dear Charlie: Your shows are outstanding; one hit after another. It is only your shows which present so many important guests to all, in the comfort of their own living room. Thanks.

King of Qatar seems a great man; knowledgeable, understanding, down to earth, kind,.

This interview remind us of our own golden times of Pahlavi. And interviews in different categories.

The Emir seems a very wise leader and it was great to have him on the program. He said anti-American sentiment was increasing in Iraq and that clearly worried him but Charlie as usual didn't pursue it. Our relations with Arabs everywhere in the Middle East remain very challenging and I wish Charlie would ask more about that with some of these Arab leaders.

The Emir said he was most worried about Pakistan, and felt Iran could be managed - which was very interesting. Perhaps it's our easily-corrupted Congress demanding a partition of Iraq or more sanctions against Iran, but in the Arab world the dislike for Americans seems to remain enormous.

Thank You Charlie, This gentleman and his country are most interesting and he sounded more sincere than others who have appeared this week. Also thank you for bringing these people to us. I have enjoyed all the conversations and was happy I could listen to this program on the internet. I will watch both interviews on PBS tomorrow (Monday).
