I ALSO WAS HEATBROKEN TO LEARN OF THE DEATH OF PAVAROTTI. I AM A SOPRANO AND HAVE SUNG PROFESSIONALLY. BUT ONE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A MUSICIAN TO APPRECIATE THE MAGNIFICENT VOICE AND ENDEARING PERSONALITY OF THIS DEAR SOUL. I LOVE THE EARLIER COMMENT REFERRING TO PAVAROTTI'S LOVING SPIRIT AND HIS CONTRIBUTION TO HEALING THE ILLS OF THE WORLD. I HEARD HIM SING SEVERAL YEARS AGO AT THE SAN JOSE ARENA AND DESPITE THE VENUE YOU FELT AS THOUGH HE WAS SINGING DIRECTLY TO EVERY PERSON IN THE AUDIENCE. WHAT A GIFT HE WAS TO US.HE WILL BE MISSED.

I was pleased that Charlie Rose chose to devote his program to Luciano Pavarotti, on the evening of his passing. I had the great pleasure of hearing the legendary tenor once in my life. Although I was only 10, and knew little about him at that time, I was thrilled by the sound of his voice and presence on the stage. After the concert, my father telephoned the hotel where Pavarotti was staying to leave a message with his assistant, to thank him for coming to our town, and for the wonderful performance. Pavarotti himself took the call and spent several minutes speaking with my father, as my mother and I listened in on the extension. He was charming and gracious. In my opinion, he has no equal - for his voice, with a personality to match it, is a unique gift bestowed only on him. The world has been made more beautiful by his presence on earth. What a wonderful lesson on how to live a life. Thank you Luciano.

I cannot get your show locally in TV so thanks for making it avialable on the internet.Charlie you run the most articulate and inciteful commentary in the media and you would be boring to listen to if everything you said I found myself in concurrence. This tribute to Pavarotti is priceless! Thank you for running it.( I only came close to hearing Pavarotti once but my wife had to ruin it all by giving birth to our third daughter!)
About the only time I won't listen to you is when you interview people such as Bill Clinton - I just can't gag him down!!! VVBG
I think your detractors fall under this rubric: better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove ALL doubt!

I had the privilege of meeting Luciano Pavarotti back in the 70s and still remember his warmth and genuineness.
Charlie, I echo Keith McLeod's comment below. Your show is one of the few really intelligent programs on the air and a wonderful alternative to the major networks' content-free talk shows. My wife and I often stay up late to watch and enjoy your interviews. Indeed, in our household 'nessun dorma' when Charlie Rose comes on the air. Vic.

Don't let some of your detractors like Mike, above, get you down. Your are a major portion of my viewing week, either on T.V. or my computer, to help shape my views with your valued interchange with your guests.
You are the Pavarotti of the interview shows

Do not forget that Public Television relies on a large part on the donations from the public. They are a non-profit organization and not a corporate entity. Regardless of that fact nothing is for free and the public pitches in to help defray the costs as so you and I may be able to continue to enjoy quality programming.
You are given the opportunity to purchase the DVD of the show if you wish to have it in your library. You do know what a DVD library is don't you? If you collect movies whether they are action, comedies, dramas or whatever, you are also being given the opportunity to collect historical DVDs on some of the greatest guests Charlie Rose has had on his program. Charlie's archives of guests he has had on his shows for well over 10 years now have a wealth of knowledge to share that you might do well to consider taking advantage of. A virtual historical library in which I for one fan of Charlie Rose, appreciate and intends to build a collective library of the DVDs such as the likes of everyone that I am interested in from Warren Buffet, Cokie Roberts, Richard Branson and a whole host of many other very interesting conversations Charlie has had with people from all walks of life. That is what makes him so interesting is because people LIKE talking to him and I LIKE listening.

My heart is breaking, but that's ok because it is now even more wide open to the love of this great man. Earth could no longer contain him, so exquisite was he. I can feel his tremendous presence filling the universe with his song. I pray that his loving spirit will help to heal the soulless hatred that remains here on earth.

I've never been to this site before, and I just don't get it. Why would I want to "buy" a clip which Public Television viewers have already paid for? I wanted to hear Luciano Pavarotti once more, but will not pay to hear the interviews, especially inasmuch as they contain so much of that cloying, annoying Charlie Rose prattle.

The world has lost a marvelous voice. Pavarotti will be remembered for his love of music. God Bless his family and friends and all those that loved him and that voice that will carry on among the greatest of voices.
