Yes, Sorensen does come off quite arrogant and comes up short.

Ted Sorensen was just as articulate as Jonathan Tisch. He knew his topics just as Mr. Tisch knew his. He loved John F. Kennedy just as much as Mr. Tisch loved his parents and elder relatives. The conversation seemed just as comfortable for Mr. Sorensen as it did for Mr. Tisch. Mr. Sorensen was perfectly credible, as was Mr. Tisch.

Jon Tisch was much more credible than Ted Sorensen.
