Norman and Charlie claim to be confused by the special prosecutor's decision not to stop his investigation when Bowling Ball Head told him that he was the one who "inadvertently" outed Joe Wilson's wife to Novak. It's quite obvious that Fitzgerald already realized that the White House was leaking Plame's identity like a sieve and that BBH was either a patsy or part of a larger conspiracy. In the end, Fitzgerald couldn't prove the conspiracy but he wasn't going to stop because the assistant Sec. of State admitted to "unwittingly" outing a CIA agent when he clearly wasn't the only source for that information.
