Looks like the keywords for this Brian Ross appearance will not be covering Jeane Palfrey and David Vitter at all. Interesting, considering Brian Ross and ABC News hyped up a story and then mysteriously watered down the actual show, claiming there weren't any big names on the list.

Sounds like people in high places got to Ross and ABC News. Powerful people talked, Ross and ABC News' integrity walked. Please ABC News, don't try to market Mr. Ross as a hard-hitting, fearless journalist who will go where the facts lead if you're not going to live up to that marketing. Try to preserve what last shred of credibility you guys might have.

"Noblesse Oblige" really does a disservice to us all as a society, and we really need people with conviction and substance to help preserve what's left of our democracy and to hopefully strengthen it rather than weaken it.

So we have Larry Flynt and others doing what Ross and ABC News doesn't have the conviction, integrity, and spine to do.. and that is report their findings rather than cower to the rich and powerful. Surely, the mainstream media will dismiss Mr. Flynt and his findings simply because of who he is and how what he does is regarded by society in general. I say, however, that truth is truth regardless of the source.

Now, to the matter of what makes David Vitter's case so reprehensible.. let me first make a general statement... one's sex life is nobody's business but their own... that said, Vitter's history as a Senator that publicly pushes values and public policy related to the very sin he has committed (this same Vitter who during Clinton's impeachment demanded hefty punishment and consequences for his actions, not to mention Mrs. Vitter who with such bravado said she wouldn't be like Hillary Clinton and "stand by her man" but would be more like Lorena Bobbit) makes what otherwise would be a private matter, a very public one that is fair game.

Why is it that often is the case that those who are the most vocal, who raise themselves up as pillars of virtue and moral authorities also tend to be the very people who are revealed to be the weakest among the lot in those areas?

There's nothing new under the sun... The Pharisees are alive and well in 2007.

Interesting article on Iraq War you all may be interested in... intelligent and gets to the heart of the issue... a much elevated level of discourse is sorely lacking in this country...
