It's fascinating how people who don't understand a topic will lash out from fear of being identified as ignorant. Referring to Daniels Scott's comments here, he immediately admits right out of the gate that he has no understanding of the topic, "What is he talking about? What does out-behave even mean?" but then quickly pivots behind a mask of a pseudo machismo and casts Seidman aside. How can anyone properly have an opinion on a person or topic without understanding that person or topic first?

Sadly, this is common practice with many Americans -- who are certainly the most uneducated people of all the developed countries. Since America has failed to properly educate themselves and now their children, they habitually cast off anything that challenges their knowledge. One quick example that comes to mind is Global Warming. It might be best sir, to turn off Charlie Rose and fixate your attention on something that better suits your level of intellect, like perhaps, Cage Fighting or one of the more popular reality shows where you'd be able to excel in your knowledge of the content.

I have read many books on business as a professional and as a graduate student on the verge of graduating from a leading EMBA Program. Seidman's book on "How" has transformed my thinking. One of my favorite concepts which continues to resonate is Seidman's articulate, insightful recognition that "rules" live outside us. (Seidman acknowledges rules are the cornerstone of a civilized society and they exist to protect all of us.) This externalization, according to Seidman inhibits our ability to connect to our core moral and ethical compass, by far, the most precious of human endowments. The Rose Interview was great..but the book is even better.

I thought this interview of Dov Seidman mesmerizing and I have mentioned it to many. Since this talk (which I happened to catch on TV some time ago ), I have listened to a similar discussion led by Tom Friedman and have bought and read the book mentioned. The concepts presented here should be bundled into a curriculum for children in early education.

Well done Charlie Rose! Dov Seidmanâ??s philosophy that â??howâ?? we do things matter at first also appeared to me as â??common sense.â?? But then again in todayâ??s world of transparency and interconnectivity, reinforcing ideas about behavior and reputation is truly revolutionary! I have the book HOW and it has inspired me to think about how I can improve my business and personal relationships-- so thank you.

I was a bit taken back by the approach Mr. Rose choose to ask his first question regarding Mr. Seidman's academic accomplishment's and why he choose this path. It seemed as though he was implying that someone with an Ivy League background choosing a path of helping others foster the right thing to do is somewhat unique but yet inspiring. I do feel the interview was thought provoking and intellectually stimulating, especially after hearing so many companies lead in fear vs. hope. I certainly look forward to hearing more about our transparent world and how to do the right thing.

I'm an engineer, not a manager. I would never have heard of Dov Seidman if he had not been on your show. I was impressed and read his book. I am now even more impressed. I look at the people where I work and see examples of what Dov is talking about. There is so much room for improvement in our lives if only we knew how.

I am so pleased I was able to refer back to this interview. To hear these ideas mentioned out loud & written is so refreshing. I have told so many about this interview & have wanted to refer them to the book. Now I have all the details I wanted to complete. I can't think of a single Charlie Rose program I have not enjoyed, but this one in particular, is the best of all.

Having read Dov's book, I can honestly say his approach to business--and by extension, life--is truly revolutionary. Imagine how the Enrons of the world might have turned out differently if only they had had the chance to incorporate Dov's ideas into their corporate culture.

How many of our moms used to tell us, "Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you"? Isn't that what Dov's TRIP really is? Trust. Risk. Innovation. Progress. Funny how the later three can't really take place unless you have the trust between each other.

Charlie Rose--there really should be a once in a while feature on your show about getting corporate culture right in the 21st century. Based on this interview--I'd have to suggest you think of Dov to contribute. Looking forward to more of both you and he!

Seidman's insight into the importance of how we do everything to gain a leading edge both in business and in life, in this newly transparent world in which we live, as a result of faster means of communicating, e.g. the internet, is revolutionary. The distinction for corporations and people to become aware of, that the old fashioned values like personal service and connecting with customers, etc., that we lost in the last 30 years have become extremely important for successful relationships of all types today, will raise the ethics and accountability level, and therefore their performance, of all cultures, both corporate and private, who want to shine in their field. My hat's off to you Charlie, for sharing this highly philosophical yet brilliantly practical book with us, your loyal viewers, and introducing us to an author who obviously has plenty to contribute to the realm of ethics, successful corporate cultures and all types of relationships ...I also read the Friedman article regarding Seidman a few weeks back and believe we will see much more of him in the near future!

What a relief to hear a corporate businessman say these things. Many individual Suzuki violin teachers have learned such ethical practices during their training, but to hear it applied to large corporations is refreshing. I hope that through action, this kind of businessperson will also learn to feel some empathy for their customers the way that many teachers care about the children and families they teach.

I was taken aback by "Dov Seidman's" appearance on Charlie Rose show. Why? For no other reason than that I am so tired of listening to the cooperate line, and nothing from the people that have wasted their lives for nothing more than a...threat..subtle...but there in the backgroud or sidelines.

I haven't had the opportunity to learn anything about Dov Seidman, but I can tell you this...his words are refreshing and so logical because they are so full of common sense and respect unstead of "you better...you have to" and we are left with looking at someones back side in result...
