Over his 30+ films, from Little Women in 1994 to The New World in 2005, Christian Bale excels in romantic roles. There's nothing he can't do. :)

I have never had the pleasure of listening to your program, Mr. Rose, but find your interviews quite unusual. In regard to Mr. Bale; through your inveriews, I find that he has not broadened his repertoire as greatly as he might have thought. Is not a true and dramatic subject love? He considers violence, science fiction, and particulary the obessive personality as being very compelling. Does he have the capacity to fill the role of a truly passionate (obsessive) lover? There are too many movie titles in cinema history to illustrate the immense talent that goes into an irrefutable relationship between one man and one woman. I would like to see Mr. Bale stretch his talents in a new direction. He mentioned obsessive characters. Obviously, he has not explored the genre of love and our obsession of the loving soul. A subject that affects us all.

I have a man crush on Christian Bale. I am not ashamed of this.

c. bale is obviously a very dedicated actor. i was initially surprised when he said he was not a film buff. that said, it would have been interesting to hear him discuss his interest in music and tie that to film. the interview was cut much too short and abruptly. bale seemed he could talk infinitely. please ask about 3:10 to yuma and music next time. thanks.

Christian Bale is a great actor and an amazing
tactician of the art of acting. Keep up the
great interviews Charlie.

i agree with many of the other comments. bale is an amazing actor that has this ability to occupy the characters, physically and linguistically, from his body language to the accents etc. He even made his character in newsies come alive!
Thank you Mr. Rose for the wonderful insight into this brilliant man and also for the other great interviews that you've conducted
Brian H. Castle a.k.a. Christian Bale's BIGGEST fan! 11/03/2007 06:38 AM Report
Christian Bale is the finest actor of his generation and in my humble opinion, I consider him to be the greatest actor that I have ever seen perform in film. If you look at the risks he takes as an actor, he truly embodies the meaning of that word. Besides his determination to gain or lose weight for a role, he also uses a different accent in virtually every film, he has shaved his hair into a crew cut (Harsh Times), grown it long (3:10 To Yuma), and even slicked it back GQ style (Batman, A. Psycho)! He has done all this in the name of what is necessary for the character! That's what makes him the greatest! I further admire his dedication to make the best possible story. I mean if you take away his contributions from any film he's done, they would still be great films in and of themselves. I also REALLY love that his interest is based primarily on acting and NOT the "celebrity" or "business" aspects of his industry. He is a true talent. As are you Mr. Rose, I don't enjoy any talk show nearly as much as I enjoy yours! You seem to ask all the right questions at all the right times! Great interview. I hope your next session with Mr. Bale will include Christopher Nolan as well and I hope the topic you chose to discuss with them is what will surely be the best picture of 2008: "The Dark Knight". Thank you Mr. Rose for your hard work and attention to detail. It really makes for truly entertaining television. Thank you.

Yes...as the others, here, have said, thank you, so much, Charlie!
I am a big fan of your interviews, but, when it comes to your Christian Bale conversations...these are the 'diamonds in the golden setting'...the creme! Your Christian Bale interviews are a seriously wonderful gift!
Your relationship to your subject, who is known for being famously uncomfortable with interview situations, you have provided a safe and friendly environment, and rapport...which speaks volumes as to your professionalism, and lack of opportunistic 'mumbo jumbo'...and, for that, I am eternally grateful.
Please, please, keep these interviews coming, whenever possible...I, for one, simply never get enough! Thank you...thank you!
Cheers,
Bree

Christian Bale is such a phenomenal, talented actor, and an intriguing man. Furthermore, Rescue Dawn was another great film in his repertoire. Thank you for the interview, and for sharing it.

Re: accents - Christian Bale has a remarkable ear - he's one of the few actors today that can pull them off naturally and unaffectedly.
I think it interesting then that he lists music as one of his non-acting interests and agree, it would be interesting to hear more about specific influences and likes/dislikes.
Thanks for having him on and please bring him back!

Good interview. I would've liked to know about the trivial, the kinds of books and music he likes. I think he's really great. Such an enthusiastic artist.

Three interviews - three distinct accents during the interviews. I might have asked him about that. Is he remaining in character for a current role? Does anyone know the true voice? Is there one?

Thanks for the interview, though it was a bit short, but thanks especially for posting them for free on the web. I've been posting them on message boards and people seem to love the interviews.
