Gotta love the way Charlie says, "Alright, show me this baby!" :-)

I enjoyed the report but Mr. Mossberg incorrectly stated that the I Phone has WIFI internet capability. It does not as the product cooperates with ATT strategy of controlling or gating the subscriber's internet access through the available cellular data network ONLY....not on the free WIFI nets.

      Thanks,

      John Vito

Great review overall, though I was a bit amazed with Mr. Mossberg's answer to why the phone doesn't feature any instant messaging capabilities.

Instead of calling it a shortcoming on Apple's part--which almost everyone agrees it is--the answer given was, "[Apple\ just didn't get it in," an answer that seems curiously lacking in substance.

I live in UK and am so jealous - oh to get my hands on an iPhone! Excellent interview. Walter Mossberg's analysis exudes integrity, balance and wisdom.

Lest someone believes the commenter John Vito, the iPhone works seamlessly between the AT&T EDGE service and any accessible Wi-Fi network. When I get home it automatically uses my home network (instead of EDGE) which is very fast. I believe Mr. Vito may be purposely trying to mislead since the Wi-Fi capability is and has been one of the most advertised features. At the very least he is not someone that has used an iPhone, or not used it much.

I heard the new 'Z-Phone (or Zune-Phone)' will contain the 'to put people to sleep' feature.

Great reasons to wait until next year get version 2.0.

      Excellent interview.

the simplicity is apparent. it's the first phone i've fallen in love with. not only a 'smart' phone, but 'intelligent' as well.

i wonder if the next version (already in development) will come out by Christmas . . .
