It is disheartening to read the plethora of comments arguing that the opinions of Scowcroft and Kissinger should be disregarded.

These comments are highly prejudicial and reveal that the commentators are only willing to listen to only what they want to hear.

excellent program. However, some behind the scene issues and views were not expressed. US will remain in Iraq for the next 20 years, regardless of who is in the white house. And this is a correct strategy. US must get control of the middle east, at any cost, in order to sustain its sole supper power status in the world.

I preferred the interview of ZB alone the previous evening. What a delight to listen to the wisdom of such a rigorous intellect and brilliant mind. Wish I could take one of his classes. Prof. B has done us a real service in writing his latest book which I shall read eagerly!

Mr. Brzezinski was forthright and addressed the problems we have with world oppinion and informed us to self reflect, on what are we as super power, and as a people. Can we condone going to war on erroneous reason, without world support, without exhausting diplomatic resources. How is the world to view us: For our lack of foresight to the consequences of this foolhardy venture in Iraq, for carnage we brought on these people. What do we say to the world about Abu Ghraib and Guantanimo Prison? We are the good guys. Yes Mr. Brzeenski, we will look at ourselves and will correct our mistakes. The heart of America is still great and we are thankful to people like you and Charlie Rose for informing us.

Great TV, next time losing Scowcroft would save time and keep the discussion at a more focused and entertaining level. Z rocks, readily criticizes failure, looks forward progressively offering solutions to move us into a future worth pursuing; while K is oriented to the past, needlessly apologic for power, and respecting anybody in authority. K also is self-servingly wrong about Vietnam: He's responsible for the needless killing of hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese and Americans, and his Nobel Peace Prize is a lasting embarrassment for all of us.

Great show. Would like to add a few points. 1) Image, Image, Global Image. US

needs to change its global image. Iraq has damaged, extensively, US global image.When

US tall blue eyes soldiers landed in Iraq in early days, the image was they were capable of fixing roads, electricity, food shortages, social injustice....in a few days! When the TVs

around the world showed them searching a few barefeet, poor Iraqis for SECURITY!!, that was the end of US image as a super power! ; just a paper lion! 2) you are right about Information Technology! Global Access/use of Internet is a great problem! Have not want what West has without realizing the sacrifices/endeavours west gone through to obtain what West has. 3) On Iran, the Regime is celebrating a $70.00 per barrel oil while ordinary Iranians are struggling 24 hours a day to make ends meet! Regime and Iranians are not the same. â??A taxi driver in Tehran, in a very hot summer day, has many Passengers, and, has room for only one more. He stops at a line up of passengers waiting under a tree (shade),he asks for the destinations of the passengers, and allows the only MULLAH to get on the Taxi. After he drives for a long distance, he looks at the MULLAH, and regrets that MULLAH has to get off as his destination is in the opposite direction! The MULLAH gets off! After MULLAH leaves, other Passengers ask about the logic of Driverâ??s conduct. . The driver replies: I wanted the MULLAH To leave the SHADED AREA FOR A TRUE BELIEVER, AND , to DUMP HIM IN A HOT PLACE TO GIVE HIM HIS OWN MEDICINE!â??

I found the Kissinger, Brzezinksi, Scowcroft interview fascinating. Kissinger floundered around with an opaque view muddled with strong language supportive of US as the super power. Scowcroft views were somewhere in between ZB's and Kissinger. I found ZB to be right on the mark--clear, focused and extremely relevant. Our government could use his wisdom a great deal more in these troubled times.

Charlie Rose has executed a coup by having the three foreign policy experts voicing their ideas on the same show. Superb discussion. Z. Brzezinski emerged the most clear-headed and realistic exponent of his ideas on American foreign policy. Three cheers to all four of the gentlemen involved. We need more of this kind of television.

even though there wasnt anything "new" per se in this convo, it was most interesting to get a sense of the debate today about issues like Iraq. It's so rare that we hear from Scowcroft so that made this all the more interesting

ZB hit the nail on the head! Scowcroft was pretty on, too. And the ONLY candidate who has consistently followed this philosophy is RON PAUL! We have to do all we can to get this message out there or this country continues on it's death march!

It was a good show about foreign relations; however, the three of them were preaching the same sermon (Whether if the cat was black, white or blue, but not if it was a mice or a dog involved). if just Mr. CHOMSKY, were to be invited, that show would have been much more better.

I am very much impressed with Zbigniew Brzezinski in your interview with him and the others. He sees the truth and says the truth about the Bush's clan international policies unlike the others who were not so clear cut in speaking the truth.He is the type of man that is supposed to be in government because he will speak his mind and do the right thing. I only hope he would voice out his opinion through the media and other avenues for the entire world to see.

This program has been one of the best ones I've seen for the last months. As a Russian citizen I'm concerned about the current approaches of the US government to many global problems and issues. It's been hard to hear about a negative and even sometimes aggressive attitude to many countries in the world. For example, the offer of Putin to work closely in Azerbadjan has been named lacking sense by C. Rice. Any person knowing geography and history would find this suggestion reasonable.

All the program comments of these 3 specialists are well-grounded, logical and correct. It's been a great pleasure to hear that there are people in the States who think and care about international cooperation, UN and global problems.

It's such a pity that the current US government is not using their experience and advice.

This was one of your best shows. And it is well worth watching again.

But I have to mmention that Hissinger's 'real politic' lost Viietnam. But as we now know via the Vietnamese themselves had Nixon continued the carpet bombing of the north another three months, The North Vietnamese would have capitulated.

With regard to Islamic terrorism we never raised the stakes high enough to force the leaders of all Arab Countries to police the terrorists within their own borders so that we would not have to.

The problems in Iraq are many but Iran involvement is the largest. Also realize every time we push Israel to trade land for peace all that produces is more violence directed at Israel. The point from both is that negotiation without military victory produces nothing.

The best way to quiet the Middle East is to wipe out Iran's nuclear facilities plus destroy all of their oil fields. ( This would only take three weeks and would not require an invasion.

Consider,without oil there is no money to rebuild nuclear. Also withoit oil there is no money to support terrorists and terrorism. And without oil there is no gasoilne or money to wage war.

Then tell Iraq that they have to get their act together because we are going home. But if they support terrorism we will come back and wipe out their oil too. That is their incentive to be good. While no Arab leader seems to care about their people they do

care about their wallets. And not one Arab despot is willing to risk the goose that produces the golden oil dollar. Thus they will police the terrorists within their midst so that we do not have to.

What China wants to become is something the world has never seen. Scale perspective: During the colonial era the average European treasure ship was a few hundred feet long, reaching four hundred feet. The average Chinese treasure ship was seven hundred feet long, and many reaching past nine hundred feet - a WWII aircraft carrier.

The Chinese considered the Roman's et al., inferior barbarians.

My only regret was that I did not see the entire show. Also, my family did not catch this program. If possible, PLEASE replay this EXCELLENT interview. It is a must-see for all concerned Americans.

I think Eagle Eye's gloss of the reasoning for the "wars" is a hasty one that assumes the information the media presents you is all there is to know (and equating the U.S. v. Iraq to NATO v. Iran?). China may not be able to be overestimated by some accounts but this sounds as if they are to be the next Roman Empire! The world is too interconnected to have one dominant player any more, as has been shown by the foreign policy squirming being done by the U.S. This is, however, one more country stepping up to the big kids table in earnest.

Above all the comments at the end of the show, I think, are the most valuable I have heard on television for some time. The day when our governmental leaders can look us in the eye again and tell us that we will not like what they are doing but it is for the best of the country will be a grand day indeed.

Give me statesmen, not fund-raisers.

These men, as evidenced by this interview, possess experiences that no longer provide insight for futura.

These men failed to see how Western Civilization is acting with one actor in mind - China. They failed to be honest enough to acknowledge that US v. Iraq and Nato v Iran are resource wars toward the energy containment of China. A civilization as proud and equally contra to our civilization. The Tiger when contained rarely bites the hand that feeds it..

Every able nation on earth sent a low, middle or high level emissary to the late Pope John Paul's funeral. To be sure, not because he was a Catholic, but for the same reason anyone would pay their respects except -- CHINA.

Perhaps Judith W could explain how Henry K, who had no real authority in DC until early '69, was responsible for our involvment in Vietnam, which began in earnest during the JFK administration and peaked in '68 under his successor. So it was really Ike all along, eh?

I am disappointed that WGBH Boston is not airing this tonight. I've been waiting for three hours to watch it, and now it's not being aired by the major Boston area PBS station. I do not understand.

It's amazing how much bad audio there is on tv these days. I don't know where this was recorded but the monitor ring is pretty bad. I would think PBS's audio professionals would have ensured better audio for tv, given the audio for the room.
