      TRULY REMARKABLE. I'VE NEVER HEARD AN ARTIST SPEAK WITH SUCH CLARITY ABOUT HIS METHOD AND PURPOSE. A MANIFESTO FOR ANYONE WHO EVEN REMOTELY ENTERTAINS THE INTENT TO PURSUE AN ARTISTIC PATH - OF ANY KIND. " IT'S NOT THE QUALITY. IT'S THE EFFORT"

      I completely agree with Richard Krane's comments. The silver lining of being home sick for three days last week was the pleasure of being able to watch those vigorous, fascinating and timeless interviews with Richard Serra.

      Anyone, with any interest in art whatsoever, should view those interviews.

      I think this was one of Charlie Rose's most insightful interviews and wish I had seen it before attending one of the opening events at the MOMA. The actual experience of being engulfed by the sculptures certainly would have beeb enhanced if I had heard the interview first.

      The interviews were mesmerizing. I know the retrospective must be also. I have followed Richard Serra's work closely since we were classmates in college. I saw then a spark of something great. Now I see the flame. I am proud to have been part of that "nanosecond walk in the woods" he alludes to.

      the last 3 mins brought tears to my eyes.... "THAT EFFORT" - is always hard to get across for people to understand better yet to appreciate it.....it felt like being in a lecture...great interview...Serra thanks for breaking it down to them.

      Charlie Rose is lucky that Richard Serra is such an articulate and voluble subject. You can ask Serra a simple question, and Serra will come back with tremendous information and perspective, regardless of how much the viewer knows about art and art history.

      I just wish Charlie Rose would do a better job of actually listening to his guests. Throughout this interview, Serra will say things, and then Rose will try to sum them up but just contradict what his guest has told him. At the end of this interview, Rose is practically yelling at his guest to try to get him to say what Rose wants, even though Serra has given him nugget after nugget after nugget. Rather embarrassing.....

      Anyone with the slightest interest in the arts should be encouraged to view, by hook or by crook, the interview (especially Part 2) of Richard Serra, sculptor, conducted by CR. I've never in my life read or heard anyone speak so intelligently, so insightfully, so eloquently, about the artistic process. One will have no difficulty in applying what Serra says about scultpure and sculptors, about painting and painters, to whatever art form is of interest to one (e.g., dancing and dancers). Trust me; Serra's answers to Charlie's questions will enthrall you.

      Can you help me? Is it possible to purchase the

      transcript of the interview on June 5th, Part 1

      and especially, June 6th, Part 2, of the Richard Serra interview by phone? Transcripts are through Voxant, how do I contact them?

      I can not figure out how to do it here in your

      website, and I am reluctant to put my personal information, credit card etc. on the computer. Please, I really want a copy, there was so much information given it was hard to absorb

      it all. I am an artist living in California,

      a homesick transplanted New Yorker.

      I am not an artist however, I think this is one of Mr. Rose's most compelling interviews. Thanks for your bringing Mr. Serra into our homes to describe his art and his relationship and our relationship to his art and the art of others.
