I was glad Charlie asked the question about "American Exceptionalism" and was pleasantly surprised with Dr. slaughter's response. The U.S. is not exceptional, but it is unique as are all other countries.

Seems the idea of American Exceptionalism, especially among Christian Evangelicals who believe America is "blessed" and VP Cheney's stated view of American energy entitlement are at the core of Red-Blue America divide.
