Charlie,....I taught elementary/middle for 33 yrs...also the Peace Corps. I listen to you daily as you are the clearest voice we have at this sensitive time. With the many who've joined you for the talks on American education, why isn't the question/issue of teacher compensation fully focused...kindergarten teachers who teach for only 3.5 hrs daily(in Cal that's 22 kids) at full pay(and often with an Aid to help), receive the same scaled pay as a high school math/science instructor who teachers at least 5 hrs and takes home, for grading and planning, 5 hrs of nightly work(30 students each hr)... Why does the system allow some teachers to niche into a cozy school for 30 yrs....Why aren't all teachers moved each 5 yrs to randomize and cleanse the city system.....Some of the issues have been covered but you have rarely heard the many horrow stories that dedicated teachers experience. Keep up the exposure and try to make a front page explosion! I taught in Oakland, CA...today, 69, I shot a 95 on a regulation....my teaching endeavors and successes matched ..Most say I should write a book about my teaching yrs; who would read it?

My mother died in 1991 of breast cancer, which has affected a great many members of my family. From this show, I have learned that breast cancer mortalities has decreased 2% per year from 1990. Thanks to the work of these guests, and to Charlie who has conveyed the proactive and preventive measures we can take, it is likely my daughter will not live in a cloak of free. This show conveys the wisdom so that we can eliminate many of our misguided actions and add to positive actions - an effort that will alleviate great suffering in the future.

I am working my way through all of Charlie Rose's excellent programs. The collaboration with Sir Paul Nurse works is very effective and very enjoyable. I would like to see more of Dr. David Nathan - I think his age will permit additional appearances. I thank God I live in a country and at a time that allows this kind of excellent discussion and has produced this level of medical excellence.

Dr Nathan's comments are especially helpful; his warmth and wealth of information makes this interview very worthwhile to watch. He makes the information accessible to anyone.
