Unfortunately I found Mr. Sloan's contribution to the conversation seriously lacking. He could have offered some historical comparative analysis such as the S&L crisis of the eighties in an attempt to put the current situation into perspective, i.e, how many banks went under then, what effect it had on the other sectors of the economy, how long it lasted,...etc. Instead what I heard most from Mr. Sloan was "we don't know" or "this could be the worst ever" and most discerning "a possible economic depression". The 24 news cycle in our country is feeding on the news of the economy like sharks right now, but the economy is still growing, albeit at .75 - 1.25%. It would have been nice to hear some solid objective information from Sloan in place of ambiguous foreboding.

Excellent and informative program. Considering that the only course I ever took in economics was in high school, this hour was understandable -- well, in the main, comprehensible.

I found Allan Sloan especially informative -- and, he was most forthright without exageriating the obviously worsening situation.

And, not offering the 'self-fulfilling prophecy.'

Mr. Rose, this hour provided me with a concise

accounting of the QUITE SERIOUS SITUATION we are facing now and in the future.

And, Mr. Rose, thank you for your nightly program which usually highlights not what we want to see -- BUT, WHAT WE NEED TO LEARN.

And, the question: do we need PBS? Definetly YES!
