Charlie seems to have lost his nerve in the face of Kramer's bewildering paranoia. Why did he never counter Kramer's conspiracy theory with the simple statistic that the vast majority of HIV/AIDS cases are among heterosexuals, not homosexuals? It makes a nonsense of the notion that it's all about homophobia. And when Kramer lays the blame for the plague on "three people", why does Charlie not ask to whom he refers. Reagan obviously, but who else? Then Kramer mentions the enormous wealth within the gay community and Charlie doesn't think to raise the question of how he squares this with powerlessness. All in all, this is a very frustrating interview. I'm a little inclined to admire Kramer's passion and rage, but it still badly needs a reality check. Charlie Rose seemingly just decided to let him rant - and so they both came off badly.
