Thank goodness for this archive. Looking at this today, after so many years, reminds me that there is such wisdom and talent in the world. Charlie almost upstages him as usual - royalties about Shakespeare, clipping off his guests'comments, but he just manages not to. He manages to engage him enough, and talent and approach to Zeffirelli shines through. And perhaps only Charlie could 'get' such an interview, part of Charlie's charm and access. Zeffirelli was a brilliant man, an artist, and a sharing, wise human being. I learned and was inspired here. Thank you.

I dont know about this Mr. Z. At the time those things were written, they were cutting edge modern. Now they are dead issues. Old English, old issues that at the time of their debut were cutting edge new. I dont agree with this "Classics" obsession business when the works themselves when they were written were anything but classic. If those authors were alive today, they would hold my position in lieu of the discarded old issues of yesteryear. Save it for the archives. I think its very nice archeological/anthropological study of dug up old ways but thats just about it.
