Margaret is right. "Light Years" is a devastating novel, right up there with "The Sheltering Sky" and anything Faulkner put to paper. I've never read a novel that so earned its final image.

A good friend and gave me Salter's book A SPORT AND A PASTIME recently. The book is just brilliantly written. The absolute finest craftsmanship, and an engaging portrait of a doomed, but highly erotic love affair. One of the best ever. Up there with John Berger's To the Wedding, and Margerite Duras' The Lover. Salter rocks!

I interviewed Salter many years ago. Every aspiring writer should read his novel Light Years. Literary perfection.

Thrilling to see this Man. He is the absolute best, and my favorite author. Thanks.

This was so good to see, surprising that it was there. I didn't even know who he was, really, when this aired. Salter has late become maybe my favorite author. He takes your breath away. Sometimes he sticks you with the end of a live wire.
