David Bearshears gives an amazing and poignant rememberance of a major tragedy. The depth of his insight from years of Himalayan experience brings an authority to his witness; one that- perhaps- is unquestionable and unassailable. The willingness to follow the natural flow of Charlie's questioning is also commendable. There is an awareness of emotion-deep feeling- just below the surface of many of Mr. Bearshears comments that denotes the intensity of his conviction and passion for climbing and respect for the craft of climbing. The emotion, whether anger or grief, gives brief glimpses of a master watching the folly of peers who lose their perspective or those nonprofessionals who forget their skill is limited.

This is one of the profound and moving moments I have come to expect from Charlie Rose.

      Thank You
