Very interesting comment about his not considering himself an accomplished musician. He also mentioned not having developed much artistic craftsmanship, and I think that this is the origin of his Comment. In other words, he is musically creative, but is somewhat lacking in the skills necessary to produce the music by himself, he doesn't play the guitar all that well, perhaps doesn't read music all that well, etc. It's very honest of him to admit that; but then, he probably realizes that being musically creative is more important that having musicianship skills.

Fascinating observation about the divide between the stylistic roots of English rock (where one had to go to art school to improve on the guitar etc.) and American (likely to be more of a blue collar background).
