      I grew up loving Ben Gazzara and his acting...... absolutely loved him and even had a crush on him when I was a teenager! RIP

      RIP. i watched him as a teen in 70s TV series. missed that entire era.

      According to IMDB, Ben was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999, the year following this interview.

      Insightful look into Ben who seems to rarely interview. All these greats must watch Charlie at night like all of us and imagine it could be they at table. Heck, even I wish I could be interviewed, who hasn't?

      Ben knew them all, actors,writers,diretors. Had dinner with Jimmie Stewart and name drops everywhere, but he was not boasting, it was all true relationships. Great interview even though only 15 minutes.

      Great friends with Steve Martin too, odd as that may seem, they met on a movie set.

      Not one mention of the TV series I only identify him with, Run for Your Life, which portrayed him as a person with an incurable disease but encouraging others all the same. A very thought provoking series and moving one.

      There to interview about his movie, Spanish Prisoner, in 1998 Ben appeared in great shape, though his voice was raspy and seldom clear.
