Goldman's insight here is unbelievable (especially considering the fact he hasn't written a movie, or a good one, in 30 years.) He says, of the 1999 Oscars, "Russell Crowe will not win, but a year from now Russell Croweâ??eighteen months from now, Russell Crowe will probably be one of the half-dozen biggest actors in the world. Because there is a movie I know nothing about...I am predicting it will be the biggest movie of the year, itâ??s called Gladiator." (Crowe did lose in 1999, but won an Oscar for Gladiator, which ended up the #4 movie of 2000.)
