Is this war real? Or is it an outsourced component for a wider narrative? There is talk of casualties in the thousands. But, all that we have been seeing, by way of war footage, up until now does not go beyond a pile or rubble here or a burning building there. Unlike, say, the footage of the Lebanon 2006 Israeli bombing of Beirut, we are not seeing bombs at their moment of impact or battered neighborhoods with multiple collapsing multistory structures. Is this another kind of phony war or what?
