The only thing I can think of is that God had much bigger fish for Al Gore to fry. And in retrospect, for our well being on this planet, I'm glad he had the chance to do it. Isn't it ironic that the Republicans were so desperate to win the Whitehouse , to the point of having the Supreme Court circumvent and basically steal an election (putting a huge black stain on that institution), and look at them now. Because of an utterly failed Presidency (Tom Brokaw called it an almost universally recognized unmitigated disaster) they are running scared because they are going to lose the whole enchilada and all their precious control. Finally we the people might just get the chance to reverse some of the most heinous and selfish policies that have ever been foisted on this nation. How come we didn't learn from the Coolidge administration that engineering the rich to get richer and the poor poorer in the end will end in disaster and shame upon the people who bring it. It's called balance my friends. Greed does not work, Gordon Gecko.
Kudos to Mr. Gore. You came out smelling like a rose. I don't want to say what Mr. Bush came out smelling like but it rhymes with manure. Oops I said it. Thank God for him that we are a forgiving people. Heck, we even gave Nixon a state funeral and said a bunch of nice things about him.
Thanks Charlie for putting on such incisive shows.
All the best

I have an idea (concept) of how to modify existing automobile motors to function without producing emissions. To whom do I go for funding to build a prototype? If this idea works...it would serve as a step toward eliminating many of the problems the world faceswithin the parameters of climate change. I think Gore's got a point. We have to act and do something soon.

it's a good time to revisit this issue. the data from the internationally sponsored Argo System of 3000+ robotic diving buoys measuring temps of the world oceans shows *NO* warming.
there recently was a cleverly titled article available online, "Buoy Meets Gore."

Well, first of all, there's sure a lot of hate on this page considering it's a PBS chat show and not Limbaugh. People are still trying to tar Al Gore with that phony charge that he claimed to have invented the Internet. He NEVER said that, just got misquoted by an incompetent journalist. Just like with John Edwards, the press denizens don't like Gore, either, so the story was repeated over and over.
Then there's all this brouhaha over global warming, like you can't go outside and see it... the rightists prefer to make it an issue of patriotism, like the right to commute in Escalade is what the forefathers had in mind when they wrote "We the people..."
Even Buckminster Fuller flew in jetliners to give speeches against wasteful habits, so get off the soapbox and get over Mr. Gore's Nobel Prize.
Al Gore VOLUNTEERED to go to Vietnam. He actually ENLISTED and SERVED, yet Mr. Bush, who clearly did what he had to do to avoid the war is seen by rightists as a, a, what?, a hero? Someone strong on defense? As if sticking his head in the sand until a plane hit the Pentagon is the mark of a strong leader.
Al Gore has been warning about global warming for decades. He's only been proven right by real scientists (as opposed to right-wing PR guys in lab coats) and our own experience. Ask the people in Tennessee if they haven't noticed an uptick in tornadoes. Ask your local former-New Orleans-residents if they didn't notice all that water coming in their houses.
What does it take to convince Americans that demonizing Al Gore (or Kerry, the Clintons, even John McCain) is not going to make them happy.
Al Gore is an insightful and visionary American. As for Mr. Bush, you'd do well to remember that 'war' begins with 'W."

I did not waste the time to listen to Al gore's latest message of doom but I did enjoy the two bumper stickers I saw the other day: 'VISIT AL GORE'S GLOBAL WARMING DEATH KAMP TODAY' [and\ 'STOP GLOBAL WARMING,TURN OFF YOUR FURNACE THIS WINTER'. Mr. Gore is a multi-millionaire allways talking down to my measly thousands. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE EARTH'S POPULATION GROWTH IS COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL...

ITS HARD NOT TO SUSPECT HIS POLITICAL RAT IN HIS SPEECH AND MOVEMENTS.. I THINK HE SHOULD DISAPPEAR AND NOT DISGRACE HIMSELF HIDING BEHIND NOBLE CAUSES WHICH HE HAS NO RELEVANCE TO IT.

What Al Gore lacks in factual wherewithal he makes up for with passion. Quite a few of his claims related to global warming, cause and effect, cannot be substantiated by science. His documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, is now being challenged by some in the film industry. They want to see the Oscar disputed on the basis that documentaries must be factual. In all honesty, I have no idea what the criteria might be for what constitutes a documentary. The pundits on the political right are having a field day with Goreâ??s do as I say not as I do lifestyle. It seems flying private jets all over the country and fueling large mansions cut against the grain of green revolutionary thought. Although Gore has created a heightened awareness of climate change, industrialized pollution, recycling and clean energy alternatives, I am not certain his efforts call for the Nobel Peace Prize. I would be more inclined to present such accolades to someone like Aung San Suu Kyi who has labored against and greatly suffered under a repressive military regime in Burma. Goreâ??s work seems more relevant as a Nobel science recipient. But there is the rub, I am not sure the scientific community would allow Gore and all of his claims to stand on the merit of proven science. Gore certainly deserves praise; however, it appears the Nobel committee has made a political statement rather than a genuine tribute to a commitment to world peace.

Why wasn't the energy crisis one of the topics on the mashup debate? I was infuriated that we only had three topics to choose from.

Never for one moment have I regretted my vote for this fine man. Nor will I ever be certain he "lost."
I admire the great works he continues to do for the greater good. His appearance on Saturday Night Live included a skit of what life might have held for us had he won, and it was priceless.
Al Gore, always a winner in my book.

Please Mr. Gore, these candidates are treating this like a Beaty Pageant and are NOT talking about the real issues. And when they do, they stick their foot in their mouths to show us why they can't be President. Please sir, be our President, enter the election!

I applaud the guts of Al Gore to say something like, "I believe there is 10 years left before we" feel the effect. That is very gutsy.

Mr. Gore,
If you truly meant all that you said in your interview with Charlie last night than I can't understand why you won't run for president in 2008.
The nation is in desperate need of real leadership and our polity, a renewed respect for truth and reason.
If you truly love this country Mr. Gore you'll run.

I just watched the discussion between Mr. Gore and Mr. Rose on WETA (PBS) in the Washington, DC area, and have watched and read a number of programs, articles and books in reference to the environmental disasters the planet is facing, but have heard and read nothing that deals with the true basis of the problem.
Mr. Gore, you mentioned that it is expected that the ice caps might totally disappear by 2100. What was not mentioned was that, right now, the global population is six billion people. By 2100, the expected population will rise to NINE BILLION. That is an increase of 150%. Question - do we need 9,000,000 people? One estimate I heard was that to accommadate that population at a world-wide standard of living equivalent to that of the United States would require three plants the size and with the resources of our earth. We will be out of clean water and air well before the global warming effects will be felt.
Simple arithmetic and common sense says that the real solution lays in the area of birth and population control. If the global population was at the level of 1900, our standard of living would be irrelevant. Yet there has been NO discussion of this issue on any of the programs I have watched, or any of the articles I have read. If instead of the number of cars and trucks on the road, there was concern for the number of people driving those cars; if instead of the status of the national electical grid, there was concern for the number of people using that electricity; if instead of the concern for the burning of the forests, there was concern for the number of people trying to live on the land they are destroying, and the consequent starvation of those people; then perhaps we would be much closer to a world without wars over resources - oil, water, minerals, all of those ingredients of our standard of living.
Mr. Rose, may I most humbly request that you devote some of your program time to the subject of why we are working so hard at overpopulating this poor planet of ours? Mr. Gore, may I also request that you spend some of your energy and talent and resources to make people aware of this problem, which has been hidden for so long? When was the last time either of you heard the term ZERO POPULATION GROWTH???
In hopes of some positive response to my request, I remain
Yours sincerely,
Elaine Estep

Mr Gore I'm a bit to the right of center and I didn't vote for you in 2000.I personaly think that ultimetly the country took the sins of Bill Clinton out on you and your unatural stiffness and overeagerness really didn't help matters much.To be quite honest at the time it seemed disingenuine. But in hindsight it turns out that sHRUBs disigenuine campaign policies of America not becoming the policeman of the world,a nation builder and changing the divisive culture of Washington turned out to be a crock Barneys crap on the White House lawn.Even though there are many things I don't agree with you on I will tell you that I'm very very impressed with this interview and am seeing a side of you I never quite saw before. If you decide to run again in 2008 just be the relaxed confident self as you where in this interview and you will go through the roof. And well,in hindsight I must also say its obvious now that sHRUB really missed his calling of becoming a Keystone cop.
