I agree with omit, David Long probably hasn't gone out and lived elsewhere to appreciate where he is in now, how good it is (not the best but good enough for me in my opinion) and how big a difference LKY has made. No place, leader or system is perfect, but under the circumstances that Singapore faced, what he did was remarkable and believe me, no one could have done a better job.

Have you seen beggar syndicates whose masterminds amputate their members' legs, throw them begging on streets with a quota to meet and pocket like 90% the money for themselves in the end? The old people that you mentioned; selling tissues and cupboards to survive, have shelter and homes to return to. Even IF they don't, at least the streets are clean and safe.

Go out and see the world and stop complaining, that is what most Singaporeans who hasn't gone out need to do. Only then you will understand why certain things were done the way they are.

David Long, you obviously have a lot of issues in your life. I would trade this man for our leader any day. The only reason you whine is because you haven't seen the true suffering. Go to Bangladesh or India or other third world countries. You will understand what I mean. Every country has old people on the streets. Some have more than the others. Some have hundreds and some have millions. And by the way, he is chosen by your own people. Nobody is perfect. But he does a damn good job.

Can't believe this man say, it's offensive to see your fellow citizen living in a destitute life. Hasn't he seen or pretended not seeing there are hundreds, if not thousands, of old people selling tissue papers or collecting card boards on the street, to survive.
