The same university that Mr. Ajami works for, John Hopkins; and in collaboration with Lancet Institute came up with a study that says that over 700,000 Iraqis have been killed violently as of July 2006.

Mr. Ajami in this interview stated that the number of Iraqis killed by Saddam Hussein is minimal compared to how many have been killed since the American Invasion.

As usually, Mr. Ajami is always correct after the fact; he just published a great article in NY Times about the uprising in the Arab Street. Before the fact; he is reckless and dangerous as you see in this interview.

I urge you to see his interview with Mr. Rose done on March 10, 2003 and you see how has contradicted himself!

    3. AbuSous2000  02/06/2011 02:56 PM Report

Did not this guy claim one time that the Arab street would never rise up? As we speak the Arab street in Tunisia and Egypt in the streets in the millions; already one tyrant has fallen, and soon Mubarak will be out and more to go!!

I wish Charlie can interview him one more time, and ask him this questions: are you wrong about the Arab street?

Ajami lies when he says, "I wasn't one of the people who were beating the drums of war.". Have a look at Charlie's interview with him on March 3 2003 where he does beat the drum. Why does Charlie not review his own files when interviewing?

      Hi Charlie,

Fouad Ajami having been in Iraq at least ten times and having conversed with the leaders of the country of Iraq has a unique grasp of what is going on and taking place in Iraq. Also talking with the people in Iraq other than the leaders only, also gives him a unique and larger/broader perspective on events taking place in Iraq. Perhaps more so than some of our people in Iraq as Fouad can speak their language.

    7. Abu Sous  08/15/2007 01:52 PM Report

This person, Mr. 'Ajami, sold us the war on Iraq and now he says he had nothing to do with it.

On top of that Charli, you have given him a stage to sell a new book.

This person is unintellectual bankrupt, and too bad he is give a voice in any where, not just in America.

To Letty Rush: I do not mean to sound sarcastic, but it is in the book from which it was read (available at fine booksellers everywhere).

    9. Letty Rush  07/21/2007 05:41 PM Report

During the show there were several mentions of a poem by Mr. Ajami, "The Song of Rain." Search as hard as I might, I just can't find it. Can someone tell me where 'tis?

      Would be much appreciated.
