Thank you, folks, for your good solid comments. My only complaint about the Charlie Rose website is that, now after viewing the comments, I completely lose my place in the videos (i.e. I was at the 2003 Wolfowitz video, and now I am thrown back to the home page!) Please fix that, CharlieRose.com. Now I have to click back up to page 75! It makes the website for some of the most intelligent discussions look kind of stupid.

What an interesting interview with Paul Wolfowitz. I completely concur with the other comments, prior to mine, with the exception that I've been watching your show regularly since July 2006. (I tape your show every night, via DVR, and watch it as soon as I can.) Mr. Rose, I want to thank you, from the depths of my heart, for asking him the questions that absolutely needed to be asked. It's obvious that he was prepared to give you his usual "dog and pony show." I was relieved that you did not allow him to manipulate you or to exploit your program. I was especially impressed when you asked him, point blank, if he had changed any of his ideas in light of the unfolding of the US war/occupation of Iraq and his experience with the World Bank. Wow! That was exactly the question I wanted answered. Thank you. The work of the World Bank is critical and should not be used for political purposes by those who are obsessed with power and blind ideology. Mr. Wolfowitz, as well as his replacement (unfortunately), were both very instrumental in stubbornly promoting this disastrous war in Iraq via the NeoCon "Project for a New American Century." (Your viewers can look into PNAC for themselves.) He and fellow proponents of the USA invasion/occupation of Iraq must be held accountable for the consequences that we now see unfolding before our very eyes. It appears that Wolfowitz was as toxic in his role in the World Bank as his PNAC pal, John Bolton, was in the United Nations. Elections certainly DO have consequences. May wise and good-hearted leaders one day have more influence in this nation and around the world. Thanks again for a really stimulating interview, Mr. Rose.

Oh dear lord, thank you for highlighting this niave, and at the same time, autocratic soul. As I listen to this, I concur with the commenter above that, with people like Woflowitz, driving the justification for policy, it is no wonder that the US has so badly bungled it in Iraq and Afghanistan.

That was a very engaging interview with Mr. Wolfowitz. I am a first time viewer and I want to thank you immensely. I have been waiting some time to hear any official from the Bush Administration speak off script. After watching the interview it is obvious why he failed with the Defense Department and with the World Bank. It is amazing how so many people in that administration who posses an autocratic view in their approach to world affairs claim to be the champions of democracy. It is also amazing with the wake of tragedy left behind them nobody feels a need to speak honestly about it. You donĂ¢??t need me to tell you this especially after your interview but if Mr. Wolfowitz is the new champion for African causes I truly feel sorry for Africa.
