Ace Greenberg mentioned to hire people with a degree of PSD (Poor, Smart, and Determined to get rich). No wonder Bear Stearn went down in this financial crisis. All those PSD guys whom he hired destroyed his company.

One of Mr. Greenberg's last comments on what it takes to be successful in his industry was

"of course, a good moral compass is necessary''.

This is a joke in light of the unbridled greed that permeated his industry in recent decades.

I'm surprised the words came out of his mouth.

      Hi Folks,

Reading these comments bears whitness how we all view the world through our filters of race, socio-economic status and all sorts of beliefs.

When I read the racially motivated contributions I feel especially disturbed. To those posts: When are you guys evolving to the point of recognition that we're ultimately all in this together? How much tragedy, loss, pain and decay of this world do you need to have rubbed in your face to realize that this isn't going to be "blown" over in a matter of some months or years? What would it take to notice that it is people like Ace Greenberg, who shamelessly enriched themselves, are selfish and ego-centric enough to come on Charlie's show and repeatedly blame "rumors" for what happened? How much will it take for us as a country to realize that it isn't about race, not even about political strategies, but rather about *US* as a country to work together and look at the truth. That includes to openly talk about how the 62 Trillion USD in outstanding CDS's are serving this country and it's future, and the future of our children. On a sidenote here: And how honorable it is for FATCATS on Wallstreet to Siphon off Billions and then defend it as "well deserved pay" while the financial world crumbles around us and puts most economies in serious dire straights.

Boy, am I mad!!!!.............wish that Charlie reads these comments, and invites Ace for a follow up show, or maybe we could have him in a congressional hearing. I am gasping for air I am so mad.

excellent conversations ! we wish the newer generation of Jews, and Chinese students here in America, learn from the aspiration & noble deeds of Ace Greenberg. He's a very successful self-made man. Just his luck that he was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 31, and then his life was transformed and the rest was history. Well, the pragmatic side is he's the trader of a bygone era. Alas, the era was gone just a few weeks ago.

Charlie, super show!! with very important peoples and history in the making at this extraordinary time. The mission of your TV show is far more noble than that of a lawyer career. Your audiences must appreciate your great talents.

Mr. Greenberg states that, last week, the credit default swap (CDS) that was worth 9 cents were fully paid by the insurers.

What he did not mention that the other 91 cents on the dollar were paid by the US Treasury with the loans to the banks and the insurance companies.

What will happen when 60 plus TRILLION CDS's will come due? Will the Treasury have 54 TRILLION dollars to spare?

This is a 2004 conversation not the 10/22/2008.

As well as bigotry from this board.

Ace Greenberg, what a waste of space. Hard to believe that this moron headed up Bear Stearns...oh yeah, that's right, they went belly up. This guy takes no responsibility for what went down there, so surprised at what happened. This old guy should get his ass down to Miami Beach and put his head in the sand.
