      Actually, the historical Buddha did, sorta, carry such a weapon... or the equivalent in his time, as his father was a warrior king and trained young Buddha to fight with the state of art weapons-- their AK47's-- of their time, which were broad swords mostly. However, after the Buddha reached enlightenment, he had no need for those weapons. It is said that he walked right onto a battle field, unarmed, stood between two warring men and they dropped their swords in shame and tears. I believe he could do that, that in fact the Dalai Lama could also do that. He is that power and as enlightened and that is very clear when anyone is in his presence... but I sure hope he never tries it. He is too precious (to us).. and too sensible.. to take such a risk.
