Tina Packer is brilliant and articulate!

Of the last 32 guests (check the 'Recent' archive), two have been women - talking about catching Whitey Bulger and Shakespeare (albeit with great parallels drawn.)

What does that tell you about programming at Charlie Rose? I still watch very often, especially the science reporting, but I know the mindset and the funders of what I'm watching...

A cynic is an intellectual who isn't challenging himself.

Shakespeare may well have been homosexual, so his sympatico should not be surprising. The sonnets were wrongly accredited in that respect for eons. And I think her stages theory is a lot of hooey. The guy was a spin doctor for what we would these days probably label a dictator, even if also a decent philosopher and scholar. A lot of Anglo-American women are, in fact, shrews, even today, maybe most, and I don't think that's made up. Popular as Shakespeare was in the 19th c, I doubt he's had much, if any, effect on the writing and rhetoric of most of the folks enumerated. But, commerce is no doubt at the heart of femininity. Unfortunately, it has little connection with rationality.
