      The (Re-) Ascent of Women--

Here is Hanna Rosin at TEDWomen: http://www.ted.com/talks/hanna_rosin_new_data_on_the_rise_of_women.html

Woman's limbic or emotional brain is larger than a man's.

With a larger limbic brain women also have a stronger nesting instinct than men, which means her home is critical to her level of happiness and security. So help her take care of the home. (Also means more likely to be an agrarian influence.)

Women often have language on both sides of their brains and can go on and on, often overwhelming men with words.

Area in the brain responsive to sex hormones is 2 1/2 times larger in men.

When a man is at rest at least 70% of his brain is dead, when women were at rest, in the same study, at least 90% of their brains were busy.

A woman's sense of smell is 10 times more sensitive than a man's.

Dr. Daniel Amen is Mr. Fundraiser for PBS.

He was also an Army Psychiatrist for 7 years. In his last Army assignment he was the Chief of Mental Health at Fort Irwin in the Mojave Desert.

When it comes to the brain it is hard to find areas that are not affected by gender.

The new PBS show, “Women Who Make America” is misnamed. As I watched it and looked at all those very wealthy aging feminists who spearheaded the legalization of abortion so many years ago, the thought occurred to me that a more precise name for the show is “Women Who Make Millions off the Real Women Who Make America.”

A very large portion of the show focused on abortion and how it has given women the “choice” to escape from the drudgery and servitude of ordinary responsibilities like marriage and monogamy, child bearing and rearing. I wonder, did they really have to support something as extreme as abortion in order to get out of cooking dinner and washing the dishes? Did they really have to do the implausible and get the U.S. Supreme Court to give women the constitutional right to kill their children so they could cheat on their husbands without the fear of an unwanted pregnancy?

We heard from Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, Faye Wattleton (past president of Planned Parenthood), Hillary Clinton, Judy Blume, Erica Jong, Ariana Huffington, Oprah Winfrey and many others who have capitalized from the abortion industry one way or another - through books, magazines, websites, public appearances, politics, the entertainment world, talk shows and movies.

As they celebrate their gains over the past 40 years, are they really concerned about the woman whose boyfriend walked out on her and her unborn baby? Or the woman who may have to drop out of college because of an unplanned pregnancy? Or how about the one who already has four children? Do they really believe that women deserve better than abortion? Or do their stock portfolios, designer clothing, expensive homes and public adulation from the left mean more to them as they continue to exploit ordinary women?

"Here’s hoping that the House Republicans will finally end the year-and-a-half impasse and approve a measure that will protect all victims of domestic violence."

Yes a sound measure to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act — including important new protections for lesbian, gay, immigrant and American Indian victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

FIRST DECADE OF THE 21st CENTURY:

      women gained 2,119,000 jobs

      men gained 54,000 jobs

(WOW! WOW! WOW! 40 times less ow, ow, ow)

Women got 97.5 percent of all the new jobs created between 2000 and 2010 but job creation was about one-tenth of what it was over the previous two decades..

Only 4 percent of working women earned more than their husbands in 1970. In 2007, 22 percent of women earned more than their husbands.

Chris Rock probably wants to be a feminist but he is "not sure he will measure up".

"But here's what they don't tell you. You can never make a woman happy, it's impossible. I've never met a happy woman in my life. They're always complaining about something. You can f*ck a woman with a diamond d*ck and make her c*me ten times, and she'll still complain. "Why did you make me c*me so hard? This diamond d*ck is cloudy, why didn't you go to Tiffany's? You're so f*cking cheap."

See... Relationships are hard, man. For order, for any relationship to work, both people have to be on the same page, both people have to have the same focus, and we all know what that page is. We all know what that focus is. In order for the relationship to work both people have to have the same focus, and what's that focus? That focus is all about HER! It's all about her!

Fellas, when you wake up in the morning, you should look yourself in the mirror and say, "F*CK YOU! F*ck your hopes, f*ck your dreams, f*ck your plans … f*ck everything you thought this life was going to bring to you. Now let's go out there and try to make this b*tch happy."

Chris Rock has a hilarious routine about women, men, and money. He said that men can't win in either situation, because women always have a complaint. He quips that if a man makes more money than the woman, the woman whines that she wants to make the decisions too. On the flip side, if a woman makes more money than the man, when she gets mad at him, the first thing she calls him is "broke." While Rock was clearly poking fun, there is a little bit of truth in what he says. Everyone has certain ingrained beliefs about money, so we all come into a relationship complete with our own baggage about wealth, for better or worse.

The new revolution in the women's movement must happen in the entertainment industry, one of America's last bastions of discrimination. 95% of feature films are directed by men, just 5% by women-- and this in a politically "liberal" industry that provides America's most influential export: media. Women directors must take legal action as our studios and networks are in clear violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VII. See how we can do it at: www.womendirectorsinhollywood.com

The National Institute of Mental Health convened a workshop titled Sex Differences in Brain, Behavior, Mental Health and Mental Disorders and concluded

      (1) there is a paucity of research examining sex differences at a neurobiological and mechanistic level;

      (2) there are pervasive sex differences in the brain, and

      (3) there is a need for more neuroscientists to incorporate sex as a variable in experimental designs (National Institute of Mental Health, 2011).

Sexually dimorphism in human brain: Hypothalamus--mating and PARENTING, Amygdala--response to emotions, Hemisphere lateralization--language for males when left hemisphere damaged.

      Neuron number and IQ--no differences.

Females enhanced language and empathy, read emotion, emotional memory.

Males enhanced spatial ability and ability to build systems.

(Yes, there is an inner difference and it is between the male and female brains.)

OZ: And progesterone is like valium to women. That's why when you get pregnant, your progesterone goes through the roof, so you don't rebel against this thing growing inside of you.

And it lets you deal with things you shouldn't have to deal with. You will tolerate transgressions that most people wouldn't have tolerated, because you have high levels of progesterone.

Well, as you enter into your fourth decade of life, literally, in your early '40s, progesterone levels begin to come down. And slights that didn't used to bother you, they begin to bother you.

(Hormones making women so different? Impossible Dr. Oz. Medical science is so far behind feminism.)

      Three hours Charlie?

We bet you could do it in one. At least we hope you could because that is just about enough.

A bestselling book claimed that women say an average of 20,000 words a day and men only 7,000.

Your show and this show at a one to three ratio would substantiate it. Why is this in fact not true? It feels true.

At least half the women on Charlie Rose are fighting with their hair -it is in their eyes. As an example, Amy Richards shook her head to keep her hair back for the first half of the program -then when we were not looking she tucked her hair behind her ear. How can these people expect equality if they cannot see? I find this hugely distracting. (Men never have hair in their eyes.) Angela Merkel never needs to fight with her hair; nor do I; I use clips.

Phyllis Schlafly is a member of the secretive Council for National Policy, a dark money organization of very wealthy and influential Christian Right industrialists that want to turn America into a unregulated free market corporation controlled Christian Theocracy.

Incredible interview. Eye opening statement: "Women-the most important career choice you'll make if you want to have children is who your partner is." I would add that a women's choice of a husband is the most important career choice she will make even if she doesn't have children. If you don't have a supportive spouse, all the career ambition in the world is lost.

Something tells me the commenters are not females, certainly not females born before about 1955. Within a decade or so, the landscape totally changed. What seemed immutable, the proverbial Sisyphean rock on a slippery slope, inched up. I recall typing theses for female social workers during the 1970s, with all the citations for studies that were being done, getting into the shared truisms of the social institutions, with amazing speed, considering the entrenchment of the past. It is not so much the heavy hitters like Steinem and Friedan who made the differences in the social fabric; it is women by the millions each pushing up, knowing instinctively how to move ahead and enable more green leaves, to bring in more light, to bring more leaves and so on. People getting their MSW master's degrees, hoping to earn a little more than base-level pay, daring to study what they saw as the real issues, with daring (often male) advisers encouraging them. The "movement" must have been incredibly broad-based to have achieved so much so fast.

    23. REMant  02/26/2013 12:21 PM Report

Let's be clear, feminism isn't about equal anything, tho I'll grant you the govt ought not be involved in what used to be exclusively religious functions.

It's about redirecting society and economy from a masculine, traditionally Protestant, saving, productive, self-reliant inner-direction to a feminine (and effeminate), largely Catholic, credit, consumption-oriented, socialist other-direction, and it has been so since Catharine Beecher et al, who incidentally had no compliant at all about separating men's and women's work.

In the process they have largely destroyed the family, whose children are now using drugs, committing suicide and shooting up their teachers and classmates. I certainly wouldn't want to take credit for the past half century.

The reason why many women resist them has nothing at all to do with timidity, but rather a belief that it's simply wrong to be pushing this agenda beyond its natural boundaries.

The problem with Ms Slaughter, I'd say, is that she never learned to think for herself, which affects a lot more ppl than just those with certain sex organs - some readily to hand.
