Life most likely won't be extinguished by human agency, altho sometimes I wonder, but the evolutionary clock could certainly be turned back by the loss of so many "higher animals" and their complex habitats. At the same time, we seem to be turning ourselves into ants. I got an idea of how he feels, when I had an old white oak tree cut down last summer for fear it would fall on the house, and counted the rings. It had been there since before WWI and was already nearly half-a-century old when I was born.
