What does Al Gore here offer for "The Future", ..except that "we need to dismantle the party system"??

Do you know what that means??? ..what it means to end dissent????

      It means a Monarchy.

Al Gore wants 4 Federal Department heads, to sit before their "President", ..and conceive "for the rest of us" what future they think is in our/their best interest.

(..And it will ALWAYS be in THEIR best interest!)

Charlie hopes to claim a good share of that cartel's new tax skimmings.

Al did very, very well on "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!"

GORE: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I know. I mean they used to say during - when I was vice president, how do you tell the difference between Al Gore and a room full of Secret Service agents? He's the stiff one.

GORE: You know, one of the lines was that Al Gore is so boring that his Secret Service code name was Al Gore.

      (LAUGHTER)

      (APPLAUSE)

SAGAL: All right, and one more question. Have you ever heard - this is a fairly important question. Have you ever heard comedian Ed Helms do his gay Al Gore impression?

GORE: No, I would love to.

      (LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: Well, what do you know, we just happen to have some tape of him doing it on this show.

      ED HELMS: Yeah.

SAGAL: We heard that you do, and I don't know how you come up with this, a gay Al Gore.

      (LAUGHTER)

HELMS: Right. If I were elected president...

      (LAUGHTER)

HELMS: I would make absolutely certain that patent leather stiletto heels came in men's sizes.

      (LAUGHTER)

GORE: Oh, that's very funny, very funny.

      (LAUGHTER)

      Good job!

When I watch Chinese TV series 'Feng Shen Bang/soul hunter' published in 1990, I am thinking why this book was kept for several hundred years since Ming Dynasty. Do you think there was an author originating the myth in Ming Dynasty? I don't think so. I think the author can steal and entangle the original myth. But the question is why the book has survived until now.

    5. Gelles  02/05/2013 10:06 AM Report

Was the sale of Current TV to the Emir of Qatar wrong? Not in my book. Gore needs money to continue to try to reform our political economy to the point that Benjamin Franklin and Abraham Lincoln would applaud those of us alive today.

    6. Gelles  02/05/2013 10:00 AM Report

I am reading and immensely enjoying "The Future", Al Gore's new book. There is an Al Gore forum on Amazon.com -- and a link to it follows:

      http://www.amazon.com/gp/forum/cd/forum.html/ref=ntt_mus_ep_cd_sd?ie=UTF8&cdForum=Fx3DDRF9CFGE3DH&cdO penPostbox=1#CustomerDiscussionsPost

The book lists and explains six problem areas that we must address to recover democracy, re-establish the middle class, stop burning carbon, and otherwise regain American manufacturing preeminence and strategic role as leader of the world in partnership with super-power candidates (as they grow in military might).

World war and pollution of the whole earth by human idiocy are what Gore and his friends want to prevent. I count myself as his fan and invite this audience to join his Amazon forum's writers to advance the goals Gore (and Meacham) hand us in their well-crafted book.

He looks for more equality and less corruption in the great powers. At the moment only a few lesser powers, like Denmark and Finland, offer examples of nations trying their hardest not to be against human rights and human dignity. In my view it all boils down to the Golden Rule as our political mantra and cost accounting as our economic doctrine to re-organize all unfair, unfruitful DEBT and move away from casino crony capitalism to a cooperative, fully funded, enterprise system where wealth and economic security can be tenured and poverty is not allowed. There is no need or purpose in holding back mass production dedicated to enriching the poorest person to be very comfortable.

The solar-hydrogen energy economy must be in -- burning carbon must be out. Outlawed too.

I listened with sympathy and understanding to Al Gore until he began to defend Al- Jazeera. Al-Jazeera is an anti- American network which has given voice to the worst terrorists in the world. His claim that Israel gives this network support is false. Israelis by and large know distorted its reporting on Israel is.

Al Gore who presents himself as a person of great integrity and noble ideals has made a serious mistake here and thrown away his reputation for dollars , which however many, he does not really need.

Does United States of America plan or prepare to have a state/place for the children of Chinese Communist Party, the pure mankind, when they finish the mission? That state, which is living, is much more valuable than any museum. Since establishing China, Chinese Communist Party conquered all its enemies until being hornored to hold the pole as the most successful communist party. Thus, their children should be proud of their origin when being asked who are your parents or where are you from. Their parents have done the great history and will finish the greatest mission. American parties are loser comparing to Chinese communist party. Similar to the fact that chair Mao Zedong can lead people to establish the country while Deng Xiaoping cannot.

Al Gore's comments were all on target. The future will have a future IF we heed his advice. REMant, here, has no standing for the attitudes he exhibits. "To each, his own," we say, excusing conceit that knows no bounds. Remant's that is--not Gore's.

Yet I am not satisfied: I had the book less than a minute after ordering. The Kindle edition, that is.

We must enrich the poor, tenure the rich, and generally invite the best from everyone. Pollyannish -- but also the truth -- as Al and I see things. This can wait -- I badly need to sleep.

From Bill Gates to Al Gore in 24 hours, is like going from the intellectual capacity of an Einstein to that of a monkey in a tree. Or we could say the arrogance of genius to self delusion of the pompous. One could smell Meacham's hands all over this one for any cognizance resulting from self awareness did not meet with the ability of Mr Gore to present abstract ideas. One was shocked that Mr Gore did not have to use crib notes written by Mr Meecham, perhaps if one thinks about it, it was Meacham that was speaking into Mr Gores ear or perhaps Mr Gores lines were written on the ceiling for him to recite.

Further due diligence of a man, from a man who is a card carrying practioneer of situational ethics? From looking only at his own self interest during the 2000 election to only looking to his own self interest in the sale of Current to Al Jazzeera, the voice of Bin Ladens missives. What don't American Liberals get when they applaude a man like Al Gore? Mr Gore has given Islam a mass media platform in the US to proselyize Islamic principles and values. Here American Liberals should hear loud and clear the statement of a fundlementalist Islamic mullah from Indonesia, 'Allah does not need the consent of man sic to govern." Which means that what Islamic fundlementalists hate the most about the West are the Liberal values of self expression and freedom to do your thing without the restraint of religious laws. So one wonders who would be the first to get their heads whacked in a Shria Law governed society?

BTW if one has not noticed the force of Islam is on the march again for the first time since the 15Th century.

      Dear Al,

Here is one more thing to talk about. The Obama Drug War killed 40,000 people in Mexico during his first term. You and I and Barack “The Butcher” Obama all have first-hand experience using marijuana; we know it is harmless, and the Drug War is tragically counter-productive.

I find his analysis not just ignorant, but childish, an encyclopedia of liberal causes, on a par with Toffler and Gingrich and hardly a credit to Meacham.

Does the world need anyone need to lead it? Has it ever? Who thinks this outside of the Bilderbergers, the CFR and the UN, and some departed kings, queens and dictators?

Who still believes Keynesianism is relevant to fixing the problems it, itself, has caused over the past century? Or listens to Nobelists like Stiglitz and Krugman mouthing off about things outside of their purview?

There's no proof climate change has any connection with human activity, or that the sea level is rising, Jim Hansen notwithstanding.

There is no way to derive an ought from an is; and likewise those who would tell us what is, cannot with honesty instruct us about what alternative might be better. This is in fact a reformer's tactic of longstanding, more useful to those planning projects (or investing in them) than to scholarship, or faith. You don't become smart until you've seen a lot of hypotheses proved wrong, which gives you both humility and greater accuracy of judgment.

We don't have a democracy, and it wouldn't need to be fixed anyway. The country is not run by Congress alone, thankfully, tho it is certainly tiresome to be seeing no one ever agreeing about anything.

The answer to speculation and short-termism is not buy-and-hold, but to stopping fiddling around with interest rates thus destroying the incentive to work and save. And it's not big business that's running around the world seeking monsters to destroy, passing draconian security measures and building supercomputers to spy on us, and selling bonds to banks with monopoly money to do it.

For a while I thought I'd met Gore working for the II Field Force magazine st Long Binh in 1970, but it turns out he arrived in country a few weeks after I left, tho the guy who took my place at Stars & Stripes and now a wheel at CBS may have run into him there. The NYT article on the subject a few years ago seems a fair assessment.

The impetus for the Renaissance and Reformation greatly antedated the printing press and was aimed at reforming the kind of "democracy" we are once again experiencing, and for which Gore's party stands as much as the neocons who migrated from it. Both were definitely republican movements, not democratic ones. And Say's law flows directly out of them. Believe it or not, the world got along well enough without mass communications, perhaps better when ppl had to actually read and write.

Gore has insisted he gives the money from his global warming campaign to a foundation promoting his causes, but he certainly has made more of it than Mitt Romney. I don't know what happened to the $500 million from the sale of Current TV, but I can say that Al Jazeera (English at least) has unfortunately proved itself to be far from unbiased in many respects, because of its Sunni funders, but also because they've hired so many former BBC Labour-types. Their op-eds are not significantly different from The Washington Post and NY Times, many coming from Project Syndicate - that clan of Bilderbergers - except regarding Israel and a few further too the left.

I would have to say the conservative think tanks, foundations, etc, are no more numerous, better funded or more firmly established than the liberal ones.

Gore I believe has spoken and voted against gun control several times. But how can it be said we've crossed some sort of gun violence threshold when gun-related deaths have been steadily declining? When assault weapons play little or no part to begin with? This math doesn't add up either.

I have no doubt we are going to have to be careful in applying new genetic technologies, but it should be remembered men have been breeding new species and transforming the earth since before recorded history. We developed strains of drought- and pest-resistant stuff long before we started inserting genes into things. There's nothing to indicate that that the latter are any different or that the rules of experience have changed to make them anymore of a threat.

Last, I sincerely doubt "coming together" or "networking" is going to helpful in solving any problems, tho it may well line the pockets of a few. And I would direct the attention of those who believe that to look into a century of celebrated publications decrying it, such as The Lonely Crowd, The Culture of Narcissism, etc.
