What's with the three star rating? I've watched over one thousand Charlie Rose interviews and this is one of the very best. Hoffman was great. What a guy!

Sorry, ..'Wag the Dog' was Robert De Niro, ..and I believe Mr. Hoffman actually played a part in that film.

And no, I don't believe the Americans who risked their lives to end Osama bin Laden were facing "fake" foes.

But where did the money go???

Where did the 6 Trillion dollars of Obama's "overspending" go???

There is STILL something very fake in America.

I am angry because it looks like Dustin is here asking us to accept the "beautiful possibilities" as American life is now being committed into Barack Obama's wonderful American Rest Home!

In these days we more need a 'Happy Gilmore' to save us from exactly that freedom-robbing, money thieving fate!!

Hey! ..did you see that movie Dustin made about "the all-loved, all adored" American savior named 'Simone'??? -- where the "all-loved, all adored" personage turned out to be 100% FAKE???? ..it was a TRULY great film!!!

Oh, ..I'm sorry, ..that film was Al Pacino's.

      ***

Hey!! ..did anyone see Dustin's "Wag the Dog" movie where ANYTHING, ..even the Bin Laden "death" can be FAKED, simply for the purpose of getting a questionable candidate re-elected???

No, ..I'm SOOOO sorry, ..that was Al Pacino again.

      ***

Hey!!!!!!!!! ..Did anyone see that last movie by Dustin Hoffman, where we ALL get to find our fulfillments as we lay dying in a rest home???

Yeah!!! ..THAT one is Dustin Hobama's.

      **

You know, ..if I ever get a job, ..I'll just go down and join Bruce Willis in 'Die Hard 5', ..a story about a family that actually CARES about each other.

Dustin tells us, all those parentheticals in scripts take them out. Actors do not need to know it. They can get those beats. Let the actor take it and surprise you.

No wonder he couldn't play that tomato (metaphorically).

      He is an actor/WRITER.

Yes Charlie, in "The Ides of March" how did you say your lines without also memorizing George Clooney's lines too?

      http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/academy/media/idesofmarch-screenplay.pdf

Rape, Revenge Killing, Guns . . . 8 lines and then Lake Como and swimming in your birthday suit.

Dustin's advice is right. Just understand your lines so they do appear to have been an original thought when you say them--sorry, act them--and know the key words so you know when to come in. The rest is B.S.

Dustin tells us how one's career ages and the roles that are offered over the different decades of life.

"What is it with old ladies and track suits?" Betty White responds, "In your 20s, you dress for men. In your 40s, you dress for success. In your 80s, you dress for the bathroom."

Sex, Success, Incontinence. There you go guys.

Having recently seen and enjoyed "Quartet'' at a cinema in Ireland, I can vouch for it being one of the most entertaining films in a long time.....and this interview with Dustin Hoffman is one of the most enjoyable Charlie's conducted in a long time. From playing Shylock on London & NYC stages through Tootsie et al, the man is a master at what he does. What a joy!

    8. SharkswithfrikingLazers  01/28/2013 05:34 PM Report

Charlie is 71; Dustin is 75.

It is good to see our senior citizens so vibrant and full of stories.

You both have taken on new exciting opportunities in your seventies: CBS This Morning and Directing.

      Cheers!
