Indeed, the tiger, Richard Parker, is quite a character!
No Ang, you did not blur the relationship with the tiger in the middle. They had close personal contact. No blur, a solid relationship and very different from the book.
We are told about a tiger god with Pi's spiritual moment looking at the tiger in helplessness and revealing himself to God in a reflective state of water. Revealing himself to God in an abstract state.
From a practical standpoint it was too dangerous to put an actor with a tiger—Fox would not allow it.
Yes, the tiger on the screen had many dimensions, many dimensions.
The tiger in the final report made it too confusing unless you are Hindu.
Hindu God Shiva is often seated on a tiger skin or wears a tiger skin, with the tiger representing the mind.

Steven Callahan was a consultant for the "Life of Pi." He's also the author of "Adrift," a memoir about his 76 days stranded on a life raft at sea.
Callahan's story might be better: 30th birthday in a life raft and 60th birthday in a hospital bed fighting leukemia. His life raft became an ecosystem of its own which could have killed him but instead saved him.
CALLAHAN: Yeah. They (fish around the raft) fed me, they became my friends, at one point they almost killed me because they were big, powerful fish and I was fishing for them primarily with a spear in an inflated raft. And they kept breaking the spear, and at one point put a hole at the bottom of the raft. And in the final analysis, they brought my salvation because the fishermen had come out to that side of the island that day, which they'd never done before and they saw these birds hovering over the raft, which were there because of the fish. And they came out to find fish and they found me as well.
(Three 3d would not be as good though.)

We are told this is a movie about faith, adventure, spirituality and most of all a tricky ending which examines why we believe in faith and God and story telling. Fantastical and Mind Boggling.
(Yes, a very tricky ending which you think about and discuss.)

when Chinese or Taiwanese draw a tiger, they definitely write a Chinese word on Tiger's forehead "Wang'. I tell you a secret solving the puzzle. Forming the Chinese word "Wang" by matches, pressing the upper left point and lower right point of matches, and turn match stick with 90 degrees clockwise. Then you get the symbol. One of the differences between tiger and lion is mood. Tiger is not as good at controlling mood as lions do.

Weird. Why did the director order the actor to throw the only fish onto Tiger's face and then bump into the sea? If deciding to give out food, just give out.
Weird. Teach actor with communist mind and tell others he believe in God. He doesn't understand what he is saying both in English and in Chinese, or in any other language. Taiwanese and Chinese are from same gene. Communism is the best choice for them.

Looks foreign to me.
Let me know when they make a movie entitled, 'Life of Pi Face'. That would be something I could relate to.

I don't know, looks fake enough to me.
