This comment has nothing to do with racism in the coverage, in the choice of whose voices are heard in the media debate, or even of our nations avoidance of issues that are glaringly unavoidable, or maybe it is exactly that, why has every single comment I posted on the subject been taken down? No profanity, or sexual references or perversions, just straight forward observations that should be adressed in some forum, sometime in my lifetime--fat chance, huh Charlie. I guess we'll have to wait for Rose to turn black to see that.

its interesting for me watching this election from Asia...it seems to be that America is focusing more and more on less and less - Americans have a small world view and it is all about who get what as a RIGHT not what is the RIGHTFUL place of America in the world...

the speeches about how great America is ring hollow to me...a truly great country would not have to keep telling itself how great it is... a truly great America would be welcoming the rise and rise of Asia and preparing to GAIN from it by taking up the challenges this shift real power brings...an innovative America would surely be focused on creating better paying jobs that are linked to EXPORT SECTORS not a continuation of the urban/military/consumer economy of the 1950s...

at both conventions I heard nothing about America gearing up to take bold steps into the Asian Century...instead there was a lot of fear and finger pointing and blame shifting and character assassination going on...the signs of a continuation of America's decline were obvious...the signs of a map to a more prosperous future for all Americans was missing...

to me this is an election based on Americans fear of the future - the electors seemed resigned to the fact that the next four years will bring less joy not more...it will be four years of decline not success...if that feeling prevails then Obama wins because everyone knows what entitlements they can count on under a continuation of his regime...in stark contrast, Romney is threatening to change their entitlements in a world that is full of hurt - that is the hard message that many Americans will not take on board...what electors hear is that they might/will lose something if Obama losses what they do not hear is they may/will gain a lot if Romney wins...

Obama 2008 offered hope and change - "change you can believe in" ...America did not get that change they got more debt and gridlock politics... American got the very change they can't believe in so they sensibly went off any idea of change...

Obama 2012 offers 'no hope of change'...the electors hear that message loud and clear and they just might buy it....perhaps it is the right choice to make after all in a country in sharp decline - luckily I do not live in America and so I do not have to choose that option...

the rest of the world wants and needs a strong and confident America in the C21st but Obama can not provide that if he continues the reckless spending spree his community-organiser in chief philosophy demands...

Romney will win if and only if enough of the independent voters do not want 'no hope of change'...I still believe Romney will win...but all those Romney voters will cast their ballot with their fingers crossed, as we in the rest of the world will do, that the change Romney brings is a devolution of government power to the States and Local Governments... AND that Romney/Ryan have the guts to really slash the $US Trillion debt...

Good luck Americans and I would say God Bless you all but I don't believe a personal God exists...instead I wish you more not less 'hope and change'...

      cheers, richard.
